Supply chain list for substrate chokepoint
The thing $AXTI does differently is they vertically integrate 4 different chokepoints under 1 supply chain.
I think $COHR or US is going to go on a vertical integration buying spree or capacity securing spree due to $AXTI.
There's some very, very, very niche chokepoints in the InP substrate supply chain (as upstream as you can go)
Talked about $VNP (TSX) and others for Gallium, Indium, Arsenic, and Phosphorus (extraction/processing)
Then you need
-> pBN Crucibles
eg. Poly-InP & B₂O₃
-> Baking the Poly-InP in the crucible
-> InP substrate Just random parts in the synthesis process, I think there's some Sumitomo/AXTI level chokepoints out there outside of captive AXT.
Doing research into those areas now and seeing if there's any good long opportunities... one of the most nche parts of the supply chain, think there might be some hidden gems that US supply chains desperately need.
So: L1 Vital/5n/indium corp(private)/sumitomo/jinmei (axt)
L2: pbn, Momentive, BoYu (private), shin etsu, morgan advanced materials
L3: Tomiyama, Rasa, Dignten, Furukawa
L4: Sumitomo, AXT, $COHR, JX, that people know.
Then prob there's even more niche stuff inside each company that markets might not discover? just putting out ideas.
Basically the West needs to stitch together an $AXTI supply chain for West only ASAP so if you find a monopoly outside, its gonna be highly valuable.
