Marvell and Luxshare-Tech have demonstrated the industry's first hybrid AEC/ACC cable, introducing an entirely new category of data center interconnect.
Andrew Kim, Director of Engineering at Luxshare-Tech, and Nicola Bramante of Marvell unveiled at OFC the industry’s first hybrid AEC/ACC cable for optimizing in-rack copper connectivity. The hybrid design combines the longer reach of active electrical cables with the low power, low latency and low cost advantages of active copper cables — achieving 2.5 meters of reach at a bit error rate of 1x10⁻⁹ while consuming less power than a conventional AEC. As the only provider delivering both ACC and AEC silicon at 200G per lane, Marvell is uniquely positioned to support this emerging category and enable customers to select the right interconnect for every link in the rack. Development of 3- and 4-meter designs is already underway.
