So I’m reading about an activist report about WUS (2316) right now from Palliser.
I actually thought their report was super compelling… that I decided to follow along and buy in as well. (not my idea this time, I own shares, had to change some weightings around to add this in).
Basically WUS Taiwan owns 11.3% of Kunshan (which is 45% Nvidia AI switch PCB share from their ests.).
WUS TW is valued ~$1B, probably from their own standalone PCB business, which does around $120M revenue, with AI growth ahead.
That stake of WUS Kunshan is worth around $4-4.3B MC.
After tax it’s around $3.2B, which by itself is 3-4x the current business value.
And they’re trying to pressure management to unlock that value.
I looked at WUS for PCB exposure earlier, and thought it was an interesting idea but didn’t know about ownership.
And this should derisk downside quite a bit.
Main risk is that is management ignores them completely, but don’t think it will be completely ignored like Snapchat.
Maybe some middle ground like selling 1/3rd stake?
Apparently it’s some family business that’s stubborn but feel like activists can do some work.
Anyway just doing research into this now sharing my findings.
