AI agents

Salesforce(CRM.US)
Alphabet(GOOGL.US)

Meta Platforms’ chief AI officer, Alexandr Wang, told employees Monday that the company will move its internal communications from Google Chat to Slack later this month, according to an internal memo reviewed by The Information.
Wang said that when Meta first evaluated Google Chat and Slack, the platforms offered relatively similar features, leading leadership to choose Google Chat because of its integration with Google Workspace. But less than a year after that decision, Meta is reversing course, with Wang acknowledging that another switch will be “disruptive” and “painful.”
Still, the leadership team believes Slack’s stronger agentic capabilities justify the effort, Wang said.
“In retrospect, we made the wrong decision; AI has evolved considerably since then, and it’s increasingly clear how fundamental agents will be to how we build,” Wang wrote.
Wang added that Slack is the strongest platform for agents, making it the preferred choice as Meta adapts its internal tools to the growing role of AI agents.
Several Meta units, including Meta Superintelligence Labs, Agent Transformation Accelerator and DevInfra, will receive early access to Slack starting September 15, Wang said. The rest of the company will gain access beginning September 29.
A spokesperson for Meta declined to comment.
Meta chief AI officer Alexandr Wang said leadership “made the wrong decision” in choosing Google Chat first over Slack.
