不做 英伟达(NVDA.US)
IREN(IREN.US)

Nvidia expands Australian AI factory push as global demand rises

Nvidia's latest partnerships in Australia could reshape where AI capacity is built and who can access it. The plan links power, data centers, and open models to local innovation, while also signaling a broader shift in how countries compete for compute, investment, and AI sovereignty worldwide.
Nvidia said on Tuesday it is working with a growing group of Australian cloud and infrastructure partners to expand land, power, and shell capacity for multiple generations of its DSX AI factory platform. The potential buildout could reach up to 2 GW by 2027.
The initiative includes Firmus, Sharon AI, IREN, ResetData, Megaport, CDC, NEXTDC, and AirTrunk. These providers will operate the facilities, while Nvidia supplies the DSX platform, accelerated computing, networking, software, and ecosystem support.
The company said the effort aims to meet rising demand for AI compute in Australia while giving startups, universities, researchers, enterprises, and developers more access to high-performance infrastructure. Nvidia also said expanded access to its accelerated computing and Nemotron open models will help organizations such as Heidi and Atlassian develop regional AI models, applications, and agents.
"AI factories turn energy into intelligence," said Raj Mirpuri, vice president of global AI clouds and infrastructure ecosystem at Nvidia. He said DSX is designed to improve productivity, flexibility, and long-term economics across successive generations of compute.
The partners are already investing in AI-ready infrastructure. Firmus is expanding its Project Southgate initiative, while Sharon AI said it is deploying up to 68,000 Nvidia GPUs. IREN said it is applying the DSX architecture at its Bundey campus in South Australia, and Megaport, through Latitude.sh, is broadening access to AI infrastructure for inference workloads. ResetData is targeting sovereign compute for customers requiring Australian data residency.
CDC, NEXTDC, and AirTrunk are also building high-density, liquid-cooled facilities designed for AI workloads. Their investments underscore Australia's growing role as a regional hub for digital infrastructure, especially as demand for power, cooling, and connectivity rises.
Nvidia said the expanded capacity will support local AI development across healthcare, enterprise software, research, and public-sector applications. Heidi said Nemotron helps its clinical AI systems reason across patient histories, while Atlassian said Nvidia infrastructure supports Rovo's search and AI tools.
The company said the effort will help Australian innovators build locally and scale globally, while adding to worldwide AI compute supply.
