ProLogium said Kyushu Electric Power will make a strategic investment as its long-running collaboration expands from industrial cooperation into capital participation. The move signals growing confidence in next-generation battery technologies, with potential implications for energy security, manufacturing supply chains, and electrification efforts in global markets.
The Taiwanese battery company said the two firms have worked together for years across energy, next-generation batteries, and industrial applications, while exploring commercialization opportunities in multiple use cases. The latest step is intended to strengthen that relationship and support broader deployment of next-generation batteries.
ProLogium and Kyushu Electric Power are also continuing to explore establishing next-generation battery module manufacturing in Japan. The companies said such a facility could combine ProLogium's cell technology with local industrial resources to support construction machinery and other electrification applications that require strong safety, durability, and performance.
Japan remains an important market for the company because of its integrated industrial base spanning energy, automotive, materials, and advanced manufacturing, ProLogium said. The company added that Taiwan and Japan have a long history of cooperation in technology and supply chains, which it sees as a foundation for further commercial expansion.
Vincent Yang, founder and chief executive of ProLogium, said the partnership is based on sustained collaboration, mutual understanding, and joint exploration rather than a single project. He said the company expects to broaden cooperation with Kyushu Electric Power and pursue more commercialization opportunities across energy and industrial uses.
ProLogium, founded in 2006, develops and manufactures next-generation lithium ceramic batteries and says it holds more than 1,200 patents globally. It said it commercialized its solid-state battery technology in 2013 and has since delivered more than 2.4 million battery cells to partners and customers.
The company has also been building its manufacturing footprint in Taiwan and Europe. ProLogium describes its Taoke Gigafactory in Taoyuan as the first commercial next-generation lithium ceramic battery gigafactory with a publicly demonstrated mass-production line, while its Dunkirk site in France is advancing toward construction. ProLogium also said it has entered into a definitive business combination agreement with Translational Development Acquisition Corp., with a planned Nasdaq listing pending approvals and closing conditions.
