Delta, a global leader in power management and smart green solutions, unveiled its comprehensive microgrid and power infrastructure solutions for AI factories and high-density computing at Energy Taiwan 2026 under the theme "Resilient Energy, Powering the AI Future." Marking its 55th anniversary, the company debuted the world's first physical, production-ready containerized Solid-State Transformer (SST)-based DC power system alongside its Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) distributed generation system.
Opening the conference at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Delta Brand Chief Shan-Shan Guo emphasized that the next frontier for AI is energy infrastructure. With global electricity demand from AI data centers projected to triple between 2025 and 2030, hyperscale operators face severe grid congestion and long queues for utility capacity expansion. As 2026 marks the pivotal crossover point where global renewable power generation officially surpasses coal-fired generation, computing operators are increasingly turning to "bring your own power" microgrid architectures to secure local energy autonomy and operational resilience.

SST-based DC system targets AI data center efficiency
Patrick Zhao, Vice President and General Manager of Delta's Energy Infrastructure Business Group, noted that rack power density in AI computing facilities has surged more than tenfold over the past two years. He highlighted that even minor conversion inefficiencies carry massive economic consequences. For instance, a standard 100MW data center operating at a typical 7% power conversion loss wastes approximately 27 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually, underscoring the critical need for direct, high-efficiency power architectures.

Delta's prefabricated SST-based DC power system addresses these losses by converting medium-voltage grid power directly into the 800V DC architecture required by next-generation AI hardware. Functioning as an active energy router that incorporates real-time monitoring and energy dispatch, the system achieves a power conversion efficiency of up to 98.5%, outperforming the 97% industry standard. By eliminating traditional multi-stage AC transformers and central rectifiers, the system improves overall grid-to-chip energy efficiency by 4-5% in AI data centers while delivering millisecond-level battery backup support through integrated DC/DC converters.
Beyond conversion gains, the SST solution offers significant deployment advantages through modular prefabrication. Packaged in containerized blocks of 2.5MW per 10-foot container or 5MW per paired unit, the system is fully assembled, wired, and tested in the factory prior to shipment. This approach slashes on-site installation, cabling, and system commissioning time by up to 50% while preserving flexibility for future capacity expansion. The physical unit displayed at the exhibition will be shipped directly to a customer site for live commercial operation following the event. The system builds on more than two years of field-proven industrial performance in metal refining facilities.

SOFC adds low-emission distributed power generation
To complement grid power with clean, continuous baseload generation, Delta also introduced its SOFC distributed generation solution. Charles Tsai, General Manager of Delta's Hydrogen Energy Business Department, presented the solution, which uses micro-tubular SOFC technology licensed from Britain's Ceres Power to achieve 60% electrical efficiency. When combined with heat recovery for hot water or absorption cooling, the system achieves an overall combined heat and power efficiency of up to 85%. Generating zero nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides, producing net water, and operating at an ultra-quiet 60 decibels at three meters, the SOFC system bypasses common community and environmental hurdles associated with data center expansion.

Delta's SOFC solution is engineered around 110kW power cabinet modules aggregated into 550kW standard system blocks inside stackable 40-foot shipping containers, enabling deployment in under two years, compared with seven to ten years for traditional power plants. The technology has undergone extensive real-world testing, achieving 65.4% electrical efficiency in a joint R&D microgrid project with the Taipower Comprehensive Research Institute and exceeding 4,000 hours of continuous operation at a Kaohsiung LCD panel plant. Furthermore, Delta recently partnered with the Great Taipei Gas Corporation to develop Taiwan's first locally manufactured 550kW SOFC demonstration site. Following pilot-line trials in Tainan, commercial mass production will commence by late 2026 at Delta's Guanyin plant in Taoyuan, which features a 5.5MW test platform and a fuel cell training center.
