Arm unveiled new platforms and ecosystem programs for cloud data centers, Physical AI and mobile devices on September 8, broadening its role beyond CPU intellectual property into a wider AI computing platform. The company said the push is aimed at supporting agentic AI, which requires systems to plan tasks, retrieve data, coordinate models and take actions on behalf of users.
Arm said that as AI moves from model inference toward continuous, context-aware workflows, the CPU is regaining importance in AI systems. It also said AI is increasingly reaching cars, robots and industrial equipment, raising requirements for real-time control, sensing, efficiency and security.
Scaling compute for the data center
In data centers, Arm introduced Neoverse CSS N4, which it described as its most configurable compute subsystem to date for cloud providers and chipmakers building custom silicon. The platform supports up to 128 cores per die, LPDDR6 memory and PCIe Gen 7, and Arm said it delivers up to 2 times higher performance, up to 1.25 times better performance per watt and up to 1.75 times more memory bandwidth than Neoverse CSS N3.
Arm also launched the Arm AGI CPU for customers seeking a production-ready base for responsive agentic AI. The company said OpenAI Inc., Meta Platforms Inc., Cloudflare, Oracle, SAP, Lenovo Group, Super Micro and Verda have built related solutions on the Arm AGI CPU, while Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and NVIDIA are supporting agentic AI workloads through Arm-based platforms such as Axion, Cobalt 200 and Vera.
Building AI into physical and robotic systems
For Physical AI, Arm said its Total Design ecosystem now includes more than 80 partners, including AWS, ECARX, Hugging Face, Liquid AI, NXP, PlusAI, PSYONIC, QNX, Tongyi Qianwen and Siemens AG. The company said the stack spans AI models, software, compute hardware, sensors, virtual platforms and digital twins, and it is intended to reduce integration complexity and speed deployment in automotive, robotics and industrial systems. Arm also said its Robotics Capability Framework will continue to be refined with partners including Anaxi Labs, ANYbotics, FMC3 Robotics, Fourier, GALBOT, Gravis Robotics, Lenovo, McKinsey and Robotec.ai.
