Apple is betting that its new Siri AI assistant can revive a business in which, according to Reuters , the company "has tinkered for a decade without major success." At its "Welcome Home" launch in New York on October 13, 2026, Apple introduced HomeView, a new smart display, alongside a new HomePod mini, a faster Apple TV 4K, and a range of cameras, a smart lock, and thermostats made by LG Electronics and Schneider Electric.
A shared screen that knows its users
HomeView pairs a 7-inch Liquid Retina display with an A18 chip and comes in two versions, both priced at US$299. The tabletop model sits on a domed speaker base and comes in silver, starlight, rose pink, and space gray. The wall-mounted model, available in space gray and silver, attaches with one of three Schneider Home mounts priced from US$59.95 to US$129.95.
The device recognizes up to six people by face. Each person gets their own Home Screen, and personal content from apps such as Messages and Calendar appears only for that person.
"Apple HomeView is designed to be shared by everyone in the home yet feel completely personal to each user," said Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
Pre-orders opened on October 13 in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and India, and will open in Singapore on October 15. The device goes on sale on November 13. Siri AI runs on HomeView as a beta. HomeView's price sits above Amazon's Echo Show 8 at US$199.99 and Google's Nest Hub at US$99.99.
New chips for HomePod mini and Apple TV
HomePod mini 2 moves to Apple's S10 chip and adds Sound Glow, a light on top that pulses with the music. It comes in five colors and costs US$149, with in-store availability from October 30. Siri AI will reach the speaker later through a free software update.
The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K runs on an A19 chip. Apple said it delivers up to 50% faster CPU performance and up to 2x faster GPU performance than the previous generation. It also adds an AV1 decoder and three far-field microphones for hands-free Siri requests. It costs US$299 and goes on sale on November 13. According to Reuters , that is more than double the price of its predecessor, while rival devices from Amazon, Google, and Roku cost US$200 or less.
An updated Siri Remote adds Find My support with Precision Finding and also works with older Apple TV models. MacRumors reported that it sells separately for US$59.
LG and Schneider Electric build Apple's accessories
The most unusual part of the launch was Apple Home Collection, nine accessories that Apple designed with outside manufacturers and will sell in its own stores. LG Electronics supplies seven of them: a wired video doorbell (US$249.95), a floodlight camera (US$399.95), an outdoor camera (US$299.95), an indoor camera (US$199.95), a smart deadbolt lock (US$349.95), a smart thermostat (US$199.95), and a temperature sensor (US$39.95). Schneider Electric supplies a smart thermostat (US$199.95) and a room sensor (US$39.95).
Every device supports Thread. The thermostats, sensors, and lock are Matter compatible, and the lock unlocks automatically as a user carrying a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch approaches. Camera event history is stored in iCloud+, which Apple says removes the need for a separate camera subscription. Sales begin in December, with select accessories following in early 2027. In the US, Apple Retail will also offer professional installation by ADT for an extra charge.
"Working closely with industry leaders LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, we designed every accessory to work seamlessly with Apple Home," said Matthew Costello, Apple's vice president of Hardware Engineering. Olivier Blum, Schneider Electric's chief executive, called Schneider Electric's thermostat "a true collaboration with Apple."
Ben Wood, co-founder of CCS Insight, told Reuters the partnership stood out because Apple "typically likes to have full control of the hardware it sells."
A special edition and an EU gap
Apple also launched a Pokémon x Beats Pill speaker featuring Pikachu and Mimikyu. According to MacRumors , it goes on sale on October 15 in select countries, including the US, at Apple and Target.
At launch, Siri AI is available only in English, in eight markets. HomeView will not be sold in the EU. Apple said this is because Siri AI is not yet available on iOS there, and that it is "working constructively with the EU in an attempt to find a path forward."
