Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics showcased their AI strategies at KES 2026 in South Korea, with Samsung focusing on smartphones, TVs, and home appliances while emphasizing an integrated AI ecosystem for everyday life. LG highlighted smart factories, robotic components, and data center cooling systems, demonstrating how its manufacturing and heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) expertise is expanding into AI-related industries.
At the entrance to Samsung's exhibition area, 28 Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8 devices were displayed alongside Project Luna, a lighting installation symbolizing Samsung's AI ecosystem. The media-art installation demonstrated how Samsung devices can work together.
In the display segment, Samsung used Micro RGB to highlight high image quality, color reproduction, and contrast performance. Its OLED TVs also showed 14 artworks inspired by Samsung products.
The home-appliance exhibits focused on how AI can assist with everyday tasks. They included the Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerator, which uses an internal camera and the AI Food Manager function to identify and manage ingredients; the Bespoke AI Combo washer-dryer, which detects garment conditions and automatically adjusts washing intensity and drying temperature; and the Vision AI Companion TV, which provides information about content being viewed and personalized recommendations based on user conversations.
Foldable phones formed the centerpiece of Samsung's mobile-device display. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra emphasizes a large screen, multitasking performance, and the thinnest design in the Z Fold series, while the Fold8 adopts a screen ratio suited to content viewing. Weighing 201 grams, it is positioned as the lightest model in the series.
Samsung also displayed the clip-on wireless Galaxy Buds On earbuds. Their design does not block the ear canal, enabling long-term wear while allowing users to remain aware of their surroundings.
Samsung vice president Seong-taek Lim said the showcase aims to give visitors a more tangible sense of how AI can make life more convenient and enriching. Through subscription services covering mobile devices and home appliances, Samsung also aims to deliver a more convenient AI lifestyle experience.
LG adopted "LG Life Layers" as its theme, dividing the exhibition area into daily life and industry sections. In the industry section, the company demonstrated a smart factory combining AI, digital twins, and robots.
Three autonomous mobile collaborative robots, LG MoMa, demonstrated material handling, task execution, and safety awareness of the surrounding environment.
MoMa combines autonomous mobility with robotic-arm capabilities, allowing it to move around a factory and perform tasks. For robotic components, LG used the home robot CLOiD and its AXIUM actuator brand to demonstrate how direct-drive motor technology from washing machines can be extended to robotic joints.
LG's "Chip-to-Chiller" integrated cooling solution for AI data centers was another major focus. The system includes cold plates that directly absorb heat from chips, coolant distribution units (CDUs), and chillers for producing large volumes of chilled water.
LG said the solution is based on approximately 60 years of accumulated HVAC expertise, supporting stable and efficient AI data center operations. LG representatives at the event said the company's ability to provide a complete cooling solution offers an advantage over having customers purchase equipment separately from different suppliers.
If a failure or coolant leak occurs, customers do not need to contact each manufacturer individually; LG can coordinate the response through a single point of contact.
In the automotive segment, LG showcased a transparent OLED display solution for windshields, a visual system that provides safety and convenience information based on the driver's line of sight, and services including personalized rear-seat content, video calls, and translation. Together, the exhibits demonstrated the direction of AI cockpit applications.
The lifestyle section featured home-appliance subscriptions and premium appliances, as well as the MONO Core 72 modular smart home. The unit integrates home appliances, air-conditioning, and energy solutions and is paired with the Spielraum AI mobility solution.
The exhibits showed Samsung concentrating on integrating its Galaxy mobile devices and Bespoke appliances into a B2C ecosystem, while using its "Samsung AI Subscription" service to deepen engagement with consumers' daily lives.
LG, meanwhile, is upgrading its B2C business through appliance subscriptions and the Smart Cottage modular smart home, while accelerating expansion into higher-value B2B businesses such as data center thermal management, smart factories, and automotive electronics solutions.
