Microcontroller maker ENE Technology is pushing into the drone market by integrating resources from other group companies and selling complete drone systems. The company expects volume shipments in the fourth quarter of 2026 and is currently focusing on commercial and industrial markets.

Egis Group participated in SEMICON Taiwan 2026 from September 2 to 4 with ENE Technology and Algoltek, showcasing innovative applications that extend semiconductor technology into AI perception, smart flight, and smart robotics.
ENE said it made strategic investments in drone companies HY Tech and Aeroprobing in 2025 and launched complete drone products under its own "ENE" brand.
The company said it has integrated satellite communications technology from Creative5, an Egis Group company, into its drones. When a drone encounters a communications outage, signal blockage in mountainous areas, or interference, it can automatically switch to satellite communications and transmit its location and key data.
For long-range communication needs, the Satellite IoT Dongle can overcome the limits of terrestrial network coverage and extend missions to remote or communication-constrained areas.
ENE also said it is working with fellow group company Algoltek to develop sensors, using chip-level integration to address the power consumption and weight constraints that challenge small drones.
As AI moves from the cloud to edge deployment on drones, ENE said drone technology is evolving toward systems that can sense and understand their surroundings, identify routes, and make operational decisions independently after mission goals are set.
On autonomous flight, ENE said it is advancing integrated development with strategic partners, training world models in simulated environments and combining them with 3-axis gimbal camera modules. The company said this gives drones environmental awareness and autonomous mission-planning capabilities, moving them from "seeing" to "understanding," while helping build an "open central platform" for drones.
Taiwan's supply chain advantage, meanwhile, lies in its full technical capabilities spanning research and development, manufacturing, and follow-up support, enabling it to provide overseas customers with one-stop service from initial design through manufacturing and support.
As the international trend toward non-China supply chains intensifies, governments and public agencies are actively seeking suppliers outside China. Taiwan's drones and communications modules are considered highly trustworthy from a cybersecurity perspective, but with the domestic market limited, Southeast Asia and Europe have become important overseas markets.
With geopolitical turmoil leading countries to pay greater attention to drone technology, industry players acknowledged that Taiwan's defense budget can create market demand. But for long-term development, Taiwan's supply chain will inevitably need to look overseas for business opportunities.
Industry sources said non-China manufacturing usually carries higher production costs, but given cybersecurity and supply autonomy concerns, many foreign governments and customers are seeking Taiwanese partners for technology transfer and production-line relocation, hoping to build localized manufacturing capabilities with the help of Taiwanese companies' technical expertise.
