Shihlin Electric is bullish on continued growth in heavy electrical equipment and energy-related businesses as demand rises for Taiwan Power grid reinforcement, energy transition projects, and AI data center (AIDC) build-outs. The company said its planned T4 plant is scheduled to start production in September 2027, while orders on hand have already topped NT$60 billion (approx. US$1.9 billion) and are extending into 2030.

Beyond the T3 plant, which began production in September 2025, Shihlin Electric said the new T4 facility is expected to come online in September 2027, with capacity gradually ramping in 2028. At that point, total capacity is expected to increase by another 30%, while production specifications have been upgraded to 345kV and 200MVA to match market demand.
The company said its current order backlog is concentrated in 2027 and 2028, with heavy electrical equipment orders accounting for about 70% of the total. It has also begun taking orders for 2029 and 2030.
Shihlin Electric said Taiwan demand is being driven mainly by Taiwan Power's grid reinforcement program, the energy transition, and expansion by AI industry players and semiconductor makers. Semiconductor-related demand spans wafer fabs and the advanced packaging, memory, Ajinomoto Build-Up Film (ABF) substrate, and PCB sectors, boosting not only power equipment demand but also in-factory material handling systems, automation equipment, and turnkey system orders.
The company said traditional industries remain under pressure, but demand from technology, energy and public works projects continues to support operations.
Overseas, export revenue currently accounts for about 15% to 20% of total sales. Shihlin Electric has expanded its footprint from Southeast Asia to the US, Canada, and Japan, while still evaluating markets including the Middle East.
The company said the added capacity will serve both existing and emerging demand in Taiwan, North America, and Japan. In North America, beyond established power infrastructure, recent AIDC construction has also pushed up demand for high-voltage, large-capacity transformers.
Shihlin Electric said it will keep searching for new export markets and does not rule out further lifting the share of overseas revenue.
To align with market demand, the company said its business model is shifting from product and equipment supply toward engineering turnkey projects and follow-up services. Its core strengths now include electromechanical systems integration, green energy engineering, major public works EPC, self-developed energy-saving and green-energy technologies, and smart manufacturing.
It plans to continue expanding into power plant, utility, new energy, and transportation infrastructure turnkey projects. Going forward, it will strengthen solar and energy storage operations and maintenance, transformer health predictive maintenance, digital monitoring, and energy management as it transforms into an energy integration solutions provider.
In energy storage, Shihlin Electric said it is focusing on behind-the-meter systems, with an emphasis on medium to large industrial and commercial sites. It is also using strategic partnerships to enter the small and medium behind-the-meter market.
Beyond EPC and O&M services for energy storage systems, it is also developing applications such as microgrids, mobile energy storage, and digital monitoring to meet backup power needs in disaster-prone and remote areas.
The company said some behind-the-meter energy storage projects have already been implemented, and it will continue expanding EPC turnkey and O&M services while pushing the business toward targets of around 300MW and then 500MW.
On transformer capacity, Shihlin Electric said the T1 and T2 plants currently have combined capacity of about 10GVA, and the T3 plant added another 5GVA after starting production in September 2025.
Although T3 can manufacture up to the 500kV class, current output is centered on 161kV products for Taiwan and 230kV to 345kV products for North America and power plant markets. Utilization has already approached 90%, which the company said is a key reason for building T4.
Shihlin Electric said T4 was originally planned mainly for medium-capacity transformers, but rapidly rising demand from the AIDC market for high-voltage, large-capacity products led it to adjust the production line to 345kV and 200MVA units.
T4 is scheduled to start production in September 2027 and begin contributing revenue in 2028, although the exact timing will depend on equipment installation, testing, and customer delivery schedules. Once online, overall transformer capacity is expected to rise by 30%, though actual output value will depend on product mix and demand.
The company said if the share of high-voltage, large-capacity products increases, the revenue contribution could exceed the increase in capacity alone.
Shihlin Electric also said power-grade transformers have become a new bottleneck in AIDC build-outs. Industry lead times for such transformers remain at 2 to 3 years and are unlikely to shorten significantly in the near term, as the US market is being pulled by both grid construction and AIDC demand.
To manage supply, the company said it will use standardization, modularization, and preorder mechanisms, together with existing capacity and new plant planning, to maintain deliveries to existing and new customers. It added that customers have already started reserving capacity at T4.
The company noted that revenue from power transformers is typically recognized only after equipment installation and grid connection, meaning the time from production to revenue recognition can exceed 1 year. As a result, the contribution from a new plant will not show up immediately after startup.
Shihlin Electric stressed that revenue recognition will still depend on customer delivery schedules, contract terms and grid-connection progress, and that one should not estimate quarterly revenue changes solely from a new plant's production start.
On component shortages, the company said it has reduced supply-chain risks through product standardization, process modularization, advance procurement, and diversified suppliers, limiting the impact of shortages on production for now.
It said it will continue to improve supply-chain transparency and strengthen off-site backup, multi-source procurement, and modular product design to respond to supply-chain fragmentation driven by geopolitics, natural disasters, net-zero carbon goals, and national security concerns.
On labor shortages, Shihlin Electric said workforce planning must begin well in advance as revenue and capacity expand, with recruitment and training typically starting about 1 year earlier. In addition to training staff to cover plant needs, it is also rolling out smart manufacturing, AI applications, and labor-saving equipment to reduce reliance on manual work.
Those efforts include adopting ERP systems to track production flow and equipment utilization, using sensors to collect process data, and using barcode management for production processes, process parameters, and yield rates to improve line efficiency and ease labor pressure.
Shihlin Electric's consolidated revenue for the first half of 2026 was NT$21.122 billion, with power distribution contributing NT$15.3 billion, or 72%; vehicle parts NT$3.2 billion, or 15%; automation equipment and components NT$2.1 billion, or 10%; and other businesses NT$500 million, or 3%.
Gross margin was about 23%, roughly in line with the same period in 2025. Net profit after tax was about NT$2.625 billion, up 24.3% year-over-year, and earnings per share were NT$5.04.
