At the 2026 China International Optoelectronic Exposition (CIOE), Luxshare and its lens module unit Luxvisions jointly showcased multiple optical and sensing technologies, including automotive camera modules, robot vision modules for autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), as well as tracking modules and waveguide display components for augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and extended reality (XR) wearables. The display underscored the group's push for vertical integration in optics.

Luxshare said the camera modules on show are mainly used in vehicles and equipment such as AGVs and AMRs. They include a dual-camera solution paired with point light projection to assist ranging, as well as fisheye wide-angle lenses designed to deliver a field of view far beyond conventional specifications. Although these modules are already in mass production, the company said it continues to upgrade both hardware and software. Future-generation specifications will be adjusted to customer demand, but Luxshare said it cannot disclose concrete plans for 2027 products at this stage.
Luxvisions focuses on lens module manufacturing, while another team within the group handles full-device design and contract manufacturing for AR glasses, including final assembly, testing, and packaging (FATP). However, the group will not launch its own-brand AR glasses. Instead, it will continue serving brand customers as a contract manufacturer, including Even Realities, Xreal, and an Alibaba customer. Luxshare said Even Realities accounts for a significant share of the AR glasses market in China.
On the optical engine side, Luxshare displayed a waveguide-based display solution. The waveguide options shown at the venue came in monochrome and full-color versions. Full-color waveguides are already in mass production, while monochrome solutions remain under development.
Luxshare said Chinese brands in the AR/VR field are still mainly playing the role of key component suppliers. Well-known names in the market remain US companies such as Meta, Apple, Snap, and Google, while Chinese brands including Even Realities, Xreal, and Rokid are growing rapidly.
However, the AR glasses industry still faces two major challenges. First, many customers want final product prices kept below US$400, but costs remain difficult to bring down to that level. Second, a killer application has yet to emerge.
Weight is also a major barrier to mass adoption. According to Luxshare, a typical pair of glasses weighs about 32g, while current AR glasses are generally close to 50g. By comparison, Even Realities' glasses weigh just 34g in total, close to the weight of ordinary eyewear. Luxshare completed the lens module, waveguide, and full-device assembly for that product.
Looking ahead, the company's next goal is to integrate optical diopters directly into the waveguide structure itself, replacing the traditional sensor-plus-lens architecture with technology similar to a metalens. That could reduce overall thickness to about one-third.
Luxshare believes the spread of automotive head-up displays (HUDs) in the car ecosystem will echo the development path of AR glasses. As long as component size keeps shrinking and weight keeps falling, AR glasses have a chance to replicate the consumer-market expansion seen with HUDs.
