不做 Himax Technologies 奇景光电(HIMX.US)

Himax launches eDP TDDI for smart cockpit displays

Himax Technologies this week announced an industry-leading automotive touch and display driver integration chip (TDDI) that supports a high-speed eDP interface, combining eDP, touch sensing and display driving on a single chip to meet new-generation smart cockpit demand for large, high-resolution, high-quality displays and real-time touch.
Himax said the new automotive eDP TDDI is a concrete result of its ongoing push into automotive display technology. It supports large, high-resolution automotive panels and advanced touch functions, while simplifying display design and lowering overall costs, with multiple projects already underway with automotive customers.
eSRE technology simplifies chip design
The company said the new eDP TDDI uses its latest eSRE (sDP Stream Regeneration Engine) technology, integrating TDDI and eDP transmit and receive functions into one chip. It can directly receive and transmit high-bandwidth eDP signals and supports daisy-chain design, allowing customers to flexibly choose one or two TDDIs depending on panel size and resolution requirements.
Himax also integrated local dimming into the TDDI, eliminating the need for an additional Tcon while improving contrast and dark-detail performance in displays, all while maintaining cost efficiency.
Design wins already underway
Himax said the eDP TDDI series has already entered the design-in stage with several panel makers and will be showcased at the SID Vehicle Displays and Interfaces Symposium in Detroit, the US, in September 2026.
The company said that by integrating the eDP 1.2 interface, it can eliminate the eDP-to-OLDI bridge chip required in traditional automotive display architectures. For single-display applications, it also supports a Direct DP architecture, allowing the SoC to send eDP signals directly to the eDP TDDI through a single cable without an additional SerDes, further simplifying the overall display system and reducing costs.
Executives eye bigger, sharper cockpit displays
Chiou Ming-cheng, executive vice president of Himax's touch and display business center, said smart cockpit displays are moving toward larger sizes and higher resolution, while display configurations are becoming increasingly diverse. The company will continue developing and launching innovative technologies and products to offer customers a broader range of choices.
