[04:00] But drifting lower into the close the nasq looks like it's going to close in the red as well as those official numbers settle.
[04:00] HereAnd then the Dow Jones industrial average, if you put any stock in that, it's going to finish about six tenths of percent lower the da says, thank you for mention.
[04:00] atieAll right S&P 500 back there we go again, as I said earlier, most of the names in the S&P 500.
[04:00] Lowed today 337 to the downside 165 gaining ground one unchanged here same story when you take a look at the sector level as measured.
[04:00] Our friend, the circle here at communication services did manage to finish in the green, so did information technology.
[04:00] Those are your three loan gainers today on the sector level, eight sectors finishing in negative territory.
[04:00] Thoses are on the day health care down by more than 1% followed by materials and industrials Carolol all right guys let's go to some of.
[04:00] The individual gainers, if I may, this one, a top gainer in the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100, number two in the S&P.
[04:01] Number one gainer in the Nasdaq 100, we're talking about lumentum Hols, tickers's LITE.
[04:01] Fing the day with a gain of about 5% here, you might remember an early May kind of got on our radar, that's when it was announced it would be.
[04:01] luded in the Nasdaq 100, it's an optical and photonic technologies maker, so definitely an AI play, Bclay is upgrading the maker.
[04:01] Of such to overweight from equal weight stock is up about 100% year to date and despite that, Barclay's analyst says it's still a track.
[04:01] Following a recent pullback making it a good buy, so they've got a price target of $100 on this stock and you can see closing.
[04:01] At about 765 and change, so that's about a 36% increase from the last price on fri before this note came out.
[04:01] So some upward momentum certainly in that one, let's go on over to Teradine did see this one also being.
[04:02] er in the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq 100 as well, up about 3. a5% at its intraday high, almost a 9% move.
[04:02] The upside, but again, finishing just under 4% here, UBS raising the target on the semiconductor manufacturing company to 50.
[04:02] from 440 maintaining the by rating, so that means quite a bump up from where the stock is now 333,70.
[04:02] S a share stock2 is up about 75% year to date, so it's been on a tear and then anybody go to the movies this weekend.
[04:02] me I'd like to next weekend on though you better to do it before the baby comes That's true should bring the baby.
[04:02] All right, so there was a big movie out, as we know we're talking about Odyssey, Christopher Nolan, say Odyssey, and we did see.
[04:02] MoTheaters moving today, but some of it, too had to do with AMC En. They came out, They reported strong adjusted EBITDA.
[04:02] For the second quarter that beat the average analyst estimate, so this talk was up 26% year to date, but we did see some peers like.
[04:03] Cinemark also higher up about 5%, so I think it was probably more on the earnings IX, which I know you guys are going to be talking.
[04:03] To the CEO just a few minutes go a little bit later on, that had a tougher time today, so I'm curious to see what he has to say though about people going.
[04:03] Thanks for the promo, I like this, you're very you know, we're just one big family, that's so true I don't know I didn't see honestly.
[04:03] One big familys on the fence, I did not see the odyssey, but I know how it ends so no spoilers.
[04:03] Yeah, no, I will not give anything away, but the stories, let's just say the story's been around for quite some time. Let's start with some media stocks, Warner Brothers discoveryy.
[04:03] Paramount SkyD both fell today this after a federal judge temporarily paused paramount Skyd's takeover of Warner Brothers discovery saying it likely.
[04:03] viols antitrust law, Warner Brothers discovery fell by 3.8% paramount sky dance fell by a little over 2% the judge did order.
[04:04] That the companies hold off on consummating the deal for 14 days, scheduled in Augustug 3rd hearing on whether to extend the hold for longer.
[04:04] The California and 11 other states sued to block the merger, they alleged that it would harm competition for film and cable TV distribute.
[04:04] All right, so Paramount Sky Dance and Warner Brothers Discovery lower Warner closing at its lowest level going back to December 4.
[04:04] Let's go to another media stock. This one, Netflix, share of Netflix fell today down by about 2%. This was actually before.
[04:04] All the Warner Brothers discoveryovery, Paramount Guide and stuff crossed analysts cutting their price targets for Netflix since the company reported earnings that was last.
[04:04] Thusday shares in netflix are down by about 50% from those june highs of 2025.
[04:04] The latest report last week, 27 analysts cut price targets by an average of 19%, we recall fri, shares fell by seven.
[04:04] That was after the company forecast a second consecutive quarter of slowing sales growth that contributed to investor anxiety about the future of Netflix.
[04:05] And finally, Set Green, SG is the ticker shares of sweet green today fell by more than 6% they were down.
[04:05] As much as 9% earlier in the session, Katie, the slide saw the stock down last Monday through Thursday, 15%, it was a concern over.
[04:05] The outbreak of that diarrhea causing parasite linked to fresh produce, the concern that analysts have would would that consumers would.
[04:05] Avoid the salad chain, sweet green shares fell 26% in that four day period because I included Friday.
[04:05] In thereThen they rose on Friday, 14% because of where it was linked. and now there are questions about what it's linked.
[04:05] Two so who knows, an analyst over the city says that concerns at sweet greenen will face incremental sourcing and prep costs and consumers will.
[04:05] I produce heavy food during this current outbreak once again sweet green share down by about 6% Yeah you also saw you pull those share down again today.
[04:06] Even if it's not linked to some of the specific lettuce at some of these chains, as Tim was saying, just sort of the you know, guilty by.
[04:06] ci I think is sending shares lower let's talk about the bond market though, because there's no diarrhea causing parasites there just to sell off a run of the mills.
[04:06] Se off across the curve here. we know that oil prices were higher on the day that LED to yields being boosted across the curve by.
[04:06] 3 to four basis points here, the tenure Treasury yield trading just below 460 Carolol all right so who watched the World Cup?
[04:06] Fin hands everybody coming, I was driving, but you listen yeah, listen to the whole thing.
[04:06] And my son watched it, the whole thing on my phone in the back, I don't know what kind of dad that makes me no good in the back and I would havet.
[04:06] I in the car, so it's fine that he was using the phone Well, there's an estimate out there by NDT.
[04:06] Saying that the FiA World Cup may have cost the US.S economy $11.7 billion in terms of lost productivity globally.
[04:07] It may have led to a loss of $17 billion in productivity Well think about it, think about it globally.
[04:07] people around the world tuned in And here in the US Sally, it was nice because we finally get to host it and have it on art.
[04:07] Time zone, but you people all over the world staying up in the middle of the night to watch this thing on a Sunday or getting up really early Monday morning, they're not going to be so productive.
[04:07] Did it work after that You know what I was thinking we have the UK is out of the World Cup, but we have a new prime minister in.
[04:07] I did not watch the final, but I did see the England France game.
[04:07] That was just the third place. It was a phenomenal game with a lot of discussion around the time that if only England had brought that sort of pace and spirit.😊
[04:07] The Argentina game, they might have done a little bit better, but it shows the difference pressure can make, which also feels a bit like a financial market analogy there.😊
[04:08] There you go yeah and there were a lot of goal scored in that third place game, I know nothing about soccer but I know that the score was higher.
[04:08] in the third place state game, there were gold the third game Yeah, the Saturday game game Yeah,64 was the final.
[04:08] Yesterdays went really slow Yeah well I was also driving so I missed it all right okay, well that was in New Jersey.
[04:08] Sed by it pretty much went to the home Depot in jers City car, I didn't see you there man almost.
[04:08] It' been so funny all right, next time, just call me, Katie call me, I'll eat in plants, I'll just start on the roof, okay, deal.
[04:08] that is a wrap across platform, radio, TV, YouTube, Bloomberg originalals, we do call it the closing bell, Sally and Katie continuing there.
[04:08] Of course, on the close on television, be sure to check out their upcoming interview with the CEO of A CEO of IMAT.
[04:08] Excuse me, i want to get that right and they're going to talk a little bit about the movies we are back here on bloomberg business Week daily, we'll see you again same time, same place tomorrow.
[04:09] And coming up, as Carol mentioned, Christopher Nolan's the Odyssey posting an epic debut.
[04:09] C Richard Geelon here to discuss the film's blockbuster performance next this is the close on Bloomberg.
[04:09] 🎼
[04:10] In case you missed it on Bloomberg crypto, we've just launched the first regulated perpetual futures product here in the United.
[04:10] And the interest has been pretty astronomical, we like to get things right with our regulators at the CFTC on products before we list them.
[04:10] I think there's a lot of both retail and institutional interest in perpetual futures and we're likely to see that continue to grow.
[04:10] Ditimate informed trading versus insider trading. and we know there's also talks with Congress like, are you going to ban people who may have special knowledge.
[04:10] the public not so we prohibit members of Congress from trading on our platform. U law already prohibits members of the U.
[04:10] Government from insider trading on information that they have it has been exciting to watch Congress explore legislating in this space, and we're largely supportive of.
[04:10] Legislative efforts to target those contracts where they may have insider information and we do that work on the exchange to prohibit and attack that activity.
[04:10] 🎼don't miss Bloberg crypto live Tuesday in case you missed it some day break here.
[04:11] With the E regulator on this, though, Look, as I told you, I interact a lot with Americans and Chinese players and we see a.
[04:11] I'm fighting for their companies all the time. You see the Chinese fighting for their companies all the time. here in Europe. I feel I'm fighting against the European regulators.
[04:11] 🎼That they are fighting for us, they are fighting against us, it's a big mistake because we need to have really big global tech leaders in Europe don't mistake rape Europe.
[04:11] 🎼Live every weekday.
[04:11] The countdown is on everything you need to get the edge at the end of the market day.
[04:11] Welcome back to the close I'm Katie Greyfeld and I'm Sally Bawell.
[04:11] Let's take a look at where markets closed out the day, S&P 500 closed down just of touch it was initially.😊
[04:12] Helped by a bounce in chip makers after a slump last week that's likely prompted investors to start buying the dip.😊
[04:12] The Nasdaq that closed up just a little touch too, the sentiment has similarly helped it climb, also LED by.
[04:12] Semicconductor companies after it had its worst week in almost a month, investors are piling back into the semiconductor heavyweights like Navidia.😊
[04:12] And Intel, in anticipation earnings reports that will serve as a critical stress test to see if big tech profit margins are matching there.😊
[04:12] AI infrastructure investments. And then, of course, we had the Philadelphia Stock Exchange Semiduct index, which also gained after falling into.😊
[04:12] A bear market Friday, as investors indeed bought back into that AI infrastructure trade. And then lastly, oil, it has swung sharply between.
[04:12] losses today as traders grappled with a flurry of headlines around the Middle East conflict, including targeting of vessels attempting to.
[04:12] The ofAll right, let's take a look at some of the day's biggest movers on the equity side. we've been talking about it all show but.
[04:13] move from alphabet reportedly developing their own server chips for their Geini model shares higher by about one.
[04:13] Ha percent on the day warner brothers discovery as discussed, their deal with paramount running into some snags.
[04:13] Halted for the time being shares finishing about 4% lower and chippole, as we were just discussing with our radio friends that.
[04:13] Paraite fears continuing to echo through the solid stock, Chipotle shares down 3.8%, but let's get to our top.
[04:13] oryThis hour it's one of the year most anticipated films delivering big time in the box office Christopher nolan, the odyssey.
[04:13] The number one film in the US.S and Canada in its debut weekend posting nearly $125 million in ticket sales.
[04:13] Now a large portion of the weekend's box office performance generated from screenings in imax's giant auditoriums many.
[04:14] were sold out months in advance let's discuss with rich galon. he is the CEO of imax joining us on sat.
[04:14] It's great to see you it's great to be here thank you so want to start there you know you about the auditoriums want to see the.
[04:14] To see it's very hard to do, I mean, there's been viral social media posts that even if you want to see a 2 a a 3 am screening,
[04:14] It's sold out, you can't get in, so I mean is there a plan to expand this to more theaters, more auditoriums around the world?
[04:14] So I've got it divide it into pieces one is there's lots of availability in imX globally and we have about 2000.
[04:14] A subset of that is film screens because Chris Nolan was the first director to ever film an entire.
[04:14] movie with imax cameras. So if you want to see it captured in imax film, project it in film, you.
[04:14] Do that at the film theaters our network overall is done very well is a record opening for us, we did $52 million.
[04:15] On a white for like basis the highest we've ever had and in fact it was almost 50% above.
[04:15] enheimer, which you know went on to be a huge success so the question is about there are lots of imX.
[04:15] Digital theaters, the film ones are rare in a way, though those theaters are like the rolls Royce and the economics are.
[04:15] them are very high and you have to put them in a very big auditorium with a very big special to me film.
[04:15] Prints or $50,000 for one print at one theater, so you have to get tremendous amounts of capacity.
[04:15] So fortunately in the places it is, it's worked very well so at the Tcl and LA.
[04:15] We did $500,000 in one day in one screen, which is an incredible number and as you said in your intro.
[04:16] People are flying places, so the economic model doesn't really work to put imax film on every corner.
[04:16] But fortunately, there are a lot of digital theaters so people can go to those absolutely so I hear what you're saying there, but I mean knowing what.
[04:16] You know now about you know what a hit this has turned out to be, what demand has looked like, I mean, in the run up would you have planned anything different?
[04:16] Aboutout well for oppenheimer, we only had 30 film theaters and we have 40% more.
[04:16] We knew it was going to be very big, partly because it was the first film shot completely with imax cameras.
[04:16] inventeded a new camera in order for Chris to make this film partly because we know Chris and conquering a story like the.
[04:16] seeHe thinks big and we are big in a lot of ways, so we knew there's not really much we could have done.
[04:16] hourour the world to try and find film projectors and we added shows in almost every theater.
[04:17] In 42 theaters weE shows between midnight and 3 a the 6 as were sold out.
[04:17] At the bfi, we've already sold out a large number of shows in week seven and eight, so just stop and think about that.
[04:17] Now two months from now, so we were prepared, but there's not more we could have done really so thinking about the bigger picture.
[04:17] IMax expects that 2026 will be its best year ever at the global B office with some 1.4 billion projected.😊
[04:17] How will you hit that number, how much do you need the sort of big Hollywood hits to carry the load compared to the local language?😊
[04:17] International blockbusters so we're a portfolio of films last year we did 1.2 billion in the first half of the year.
[04:17] This year we did about 600 million and then you go fast forward to the second half, so you have odyssey which.
[04:18] It is going to be one of our biggest movies of all time we've got in select locations, Spiderman.
[04:18] Have Dun three, which was filmed with imax cameras also by Denny Vianu and that's around ch.
[04:18] And ticketsick have already sold out for that we have Avengers in certain territories, a new tom cru movie.
[04:18] I that more general question in may, there were reports that imax was.
[04:18] Sa and has approached entertainment companies as potential buyers. What would be the rationale for doing that and are you able to give us any updates?😊
[04:18] Well we've said many times that when we sign a contract, we'll let everybody know.
[04:18] per policy not to comment on these kind of rumors and with all the turnover in the media space.
[04:18] You know, the M&A activity, it's not surprising that that rumor would be out there, but you know, we'll let you know if it happens.
[04:19] Yeah, please do ideally, you know, right here on this set with this show should I put you on speed dial on my cell phone?
[04:19] Great, know just put us on speakerphone in the room where it happens, but getting back to sort of the movie theater biz.
[04:19] You did mention that this is the Odyssey, the first movie to be filmed entirely with IMax cameras here, you've seen other films partly.
[04:19] Filed with your cameras, do you think that and have you seen any more directors being more encouraged to shoot either primary?
[04:19] ly or entirely with imax cameras given the success that we've seen with christopher nolan and with the odyssey so this year.
[04:19] We released 12 films that was shot with imax cameras, what makes this different is it was shot with a new film.
[04:19] CameraThat we invented with the no ones specifically for this project so that took.
[04:20] A significant amount of resources both capital and human capital and we invented something called a blimp imax camera.
[04:20] Traditionally are noisy because the film spools are huge, but the blimp takes away all external.
[04:20] NoiseSo it allows you to do close ups where the actors aren't acting in front of a refrigerator, it's very quiet.
[04:20] So it opens up a whole new avenue for us, but digital cameras, which you've used for a long time many.
[04:20] Pictures this year were filmed with digital cameras including the mandalorian used digital cameras.
[04:20] And Hail Mary was captured with digital cameras, but least on film.
[04:20] We've done that for years, but I do think this will create more demand and as we look forward to 2027.
[04:20] And I think there'll probably be five or more films released on film all right rich that's a good place to leave it always great to see you.
[04:21] That is Richardard galon, he is the CEO of imax now coming up we're going to shift gears because we're tracking Boeing's flight path.
[04:21] After CEO Kelly Ortberg's upbeat commentary at the Farmborough Air Show, will'll assess the outlook next, this is the close.
[04:21] I'm Bloomberg.

[04:23] Offi Kelly Otberg said the aircraft maker is close to turning the corner on its production schedule. The CEO of the aircraft maker SAT down with.
[04:24] Bloomberg's Gu Johnson at the Farmborough Air Show in the UK to discuss the company's roadmap and much more take a listen.😊
[04:24] Turning the corner i tell my team we haven't quite finished turning the corner, we got more work to do, but i am pleased with the progress so far.
[04:24] Ramping up production across many of our product lines, markets are very strong, our backlog is very very strong so our story is really.
[04:24] Focusing on executing that backlog, okay, the administrations of White has given you massive support over the last.
[04:24] Last 18 months, the president certainly had your back Do you think the company would be where it is now that kind of progress that you've made without?
[04:24] Well i think the execution focus is really on us to go improve our overall performance, build trust with our.
[04:24] s restore trust with the regulator and i think that's more what boeing has done for themselves the president has been very helpful.
[04:24] In sales campaigns, balancing trade, the best way to do that is buy a bunch of airplanes, and so we've been a beneficiary.
[04:25] That he's been very helpful to the whole aerospace industry so you're in a place right there so what's now well we still have to ramp.
[04:25] Higher so we're at 47 a month now on the 737 we have aspirations to get to 63 a month.
[04:25] Rate we're at8 a month rate on the 787 we want to go to 10 later in the year and then higher next year so we're investing.
[04:25] And new capacity, new facilities so that we can continue this rate ramp. The backlog is there, the market is strong, so it's all about.
[04:25] ver and more airplanes, you say the backlog is there, the market is, you like the economy right now, the consumer looks good, particularly in the states.
[04:25] Conumer wants to fly, the airlines are certainly saying that, but you've got Brent this morning at 90 bucks a barrel, you've got the ongoing conflict.
[04:25] Com on just give me your flavor of what you're seeing in front of you in terms of what the macro picture looks like it's a super resilient market.
[04:26] We always see perturbations here, there are regional perturbations, which we're saying now we forecast that the market is going to continue to be strong.
[04:26] Tff continues to grow we just came out with a new forecast for overall aircraft growth and we see 4.
[04:26] 4our,000 airplanes in the next 20 years, so this isn't a market that moves quickly.
[04:26] Because you have to make orders for aircraft well in advance and we think that the demand is set for our aircraft going forward.
[04:26] And our thanks again to Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg, as well as Bomberg's guy Johnsonhn, really interesting conversation there.
[04:26] As we think about how we wrapped up today's markets, a lot of focus on oil, which of course is a big focus for the entire.
[04:26] Air industry, you take a look at Nmex crude trading at about $83 a barrel when it comes to brent trading just below.
[04:26] $90 a barrel, and we do have a headline coming from U.S. Central command that forces began a new round of Iran strikes.
[04:27] At 4 pm Eastern we know that oil Sally really caught in the crosshairs of what is going on geopolitically.
[04:27] Maybe some optimism that we could see renewed peace talks, new tru talks here, but certainly the price continues to go higher right.
[04:27] Helf for traders out there, as it vacillates is the right word I was looking for between gains and loss.😊
[04:27] Today as know these headlines and the sort of lack of clarity around what the situation is regarding the Strrat of Hormu.😊
[04:27] So yeah, I wonder how much the week we'll continue to see the same kind of we willll continue to watch that as well as.
[04:27] But I'm going to talk Fifa up next, so don't go anywhere. This is the close.
[04:28] Join me each week on Wall Street Week for stories of.
[04:28] From business markets, economics, tech and climate more than what you need to know. it's what you need to think about when news breaks.
[04:28] 🎼A red head across the Bloomberg terminal. Bloomberg has you covered Trump's global tariffs are struck down by the US Supreme Court for all the context and clarity you.
[04:28] There's going to be now tons of tariff headlines until midterm election here at first on bloomberg.
[04:29] 🎼
[04:29] 🎼Good morning, good morning. This is bloomberg Savan. We back to the opening trade.
[04:29] 🎼It's Bberg money. This is the Asia trade. This is Wall Street week. Wecom to balance of power. You're watching Bloberg deal. We to Bloomberg this weekend.😊

[04:23] 🎼Take a look at shares of Boeing, closing lower down about 2% after Chief executiveive.
