[09:00] or mid components, such as optical engines. So companies like these include Suzhou TFC optical.
[09:00] wayay that China might retaliate if the ban does indeed come into effect, because there's also these rumblings that maybe this.
[09:00] be aing ahead of meeting also do China has.
[09:00] Strong card in the optical supply chain to play as well. That is Indian phosphified substrate, because in addition to China's.
[09:00] Strong position in the downstream transr modules, which relies a lot on the US hyperscales. China is also strong in upstream.
[09:00] Indian forceph flight substrate, which is critical to make the laser chips, and China already implemented export control.
[09:00] Early 2025, but has so far allowed exports to avoid disruption of the supply chain if US indeed.
[09:00] The ban on Chinese transr makers, it won't be a surprise to see China tightening the upstream Indian forfight.
[09:01] .
[09:01] We were alluding to a short while ago when it comes to context being important and how we saw that strong bounds in the optical names just the day ago.
[09:01] We'll see how China fars, but also against the backdrop of Hong Kong China overnight leads, they look like a bit of a laggard into the strong tech value.
[09:01] ring boom markets report to Anthony Stevens So what do you make of this it increases the possibility that China is going to get robbed of today's technology.
[09:01] From a risk management function, even with the fundamental underpinnings, you have to cut some risk. This is a very volatile space.
[09:01] Margin balances have been coming off. The space is off around 30 to 40% from the highests. So people will have to manage this risk.
[09:01] Is the biggest part of the Chinx index and the Chinx index has led the Hst on the way up, but recently that started to revert.
[09:02] ALittle bit, So from a long short book management perspective as well, People are under pressure as the Hs Tech, which is a larger market.
[09:02] Index has started to rally versus the China X. So people are missing out on the margin in the rallies in Tencent and Alibaba.
[09:02] And on that front, there is a US kind of policy that is helpful, right, theyve decided to not check.😊
[09:02] Open weight models for security, right They're allowing US technology companies to use openweight models. So on one hand, the US gives China something and on the other.
[09:02] And they gives the take away. And that affects the long, short book positioning of investors in Chinese tech. right The hardware space looks like a.
[09:02] A little bit more kind of threatened by the geopolitical environment. And it looks like the Llms in the software space could have a little bit of room to run.
[09:02] Being said, the focus this week looks like very much back on Korea and Taiwan after the very strong guidance from SpaceX and MDD.
[09:02] Well, speaking of how are those latter two things affecting trade today in the region, so it's very interesting that those two stocks have actually come off.
[09:03] Since earnings, right like this the sell on good earnings dynamic remains very strong in the US, given maybe that the markets are at all.
[09:03] Time high, but in Asia, we are taking a much simpler reaction function, right, like Taiwan is very strong, given that Md is talking about a massive.😊
[09:03] Compute number, I think it's 2 trillion or something by 2030. they are estimating 40% annual growth in AI.
[09:03] So the read through from US earnings into the region is very strong Space similarly, like say 18 billion Capex here.😊
[09:03] It's a little bit less than people expected, but $18 billion in Capex from a company that was not even listed last year is materially need.😊
[09:03] Moving for Taiwan and Korea. So for the rest of the region, you're seeing this huge gains across the AI supply chain as the US sticks with their Capex.
[09:03] So momentum is back. momentumment is back, defined as tech momentum, right, know It's not everything at the same time.
[09:04] You're seeing this quality dispersion, especially in the Japan's earnings season, you're seeing the companies that are giving good earnings, getting rewarded.
[09:04] Any miss hugely punished so momentum, you will get the momentum if you have the earnings growth behind it, So it's a little bit more subtle story.😊
[09:04] Then the first half of the year, Okay, Anthony, fantastic, great context as we go into the open today, of course, it looks like we will be here in Hong Kong, we' be ro.
[09:04] Of course, of the feel good vibes we're seeing across the region here today, we're covering these AI eras today from almost every angle, I was going to about to say every angle.
[09:04] But we'd be selling you guys short there coming up, at least most of it, Goldman Sachs will be joining us to talk us so their latest tar gets priced hard.
[09:04] on Jeu and Minmax and why perhaps they think one over the other question mark will be joining us at about the Open today.
[09:04] Next hour Roium Group Rivo Bojon will be joining us to talk us through their tech report guide you'll be surprised in fact what they found there as they.
[09:04] Stack US and China and their respective capabilities counting down to the opening of trade in Shanghai, in Shenzhen in here in Hong Kong.
[09:05] The opening bell, 16 minutes away, this is the China show.
[09:06] 🎼Bringing you up to the minute news whenever and wherever it happens. Im Hale I.
[09:06] By this isberg what is going to be the consequence for markets?
[09:06] We are seeing modest gainss across European equity marketss Take a look at how we're faring when it comes to Asia markets.
[09:06] The global economic playbook is being rewritten and the levers of power are moving in real.
[09:06] 🎼Time to see where the world is headed. You've to look where the action is I' has on in Singapore. I'm many she in Mumb.

[09:07] Join me each week on Wall Street Week for stories of capitalism from business, markets, economics, tech and climate.
[09:07] To know it's what you need to think about.
[09:07] Welcome back, the midpoint of the day is slightly more relevant than other days given the rally we've seen an EMFA.
[09:07] And obviously at the start of this week, and we've had a yen intervention story today, the midpoints in.
[09:07] Onhore certainly is 678-89 against the US dollar, the estimates were somewhat stronger, but that has been.
[09:07] aseAnyway, it's the delta just to talk about this because in the offshore markets today, we have a dim sum bond auction to just watch out for that as well.
[09:07] Yeah anyway, why do we take our heads from Earth to space Yeah, bringing things back more grounded right or the other way around.
[09:08] And I should say because we are, I mean, you just talked about how this UN end fix is playing out, but we've also been seeing the.
[09:08] Dollar softness or the reversal or the rebound. Maybe that's also what's helping to your point, right, the macro backdrop, helping some of these.
[09:08] Techs in Asia as well, although the exceptions used to be SpaceX and how it fed in late trade it closed lower.
[09:08] And this was after disclosing higher than expected spending on its aI business that despite its revenue exceeding estimates in the company's first earnings.
[09:08] ReAfter its IPO in june bloomberg tech anchor ed Ludlow passed the details.
[09:08] A staggering $18.4 billion in the quarter, and the vast majority of that,86% was on AI infrastructure.
[09:08] Ting out compute capacity or computing power to companies like Google and Anthropic is becoming a major business. And they gave lots of evidence of that.
[09:08] Like where is the growth, Spacex said they will hit $100 billion in annual revenue run rate by the end of this year and.
[09:09] A step further saying they have line of sight, like complete confidence that SpaceX will hit $1 trillion of real revenue.😊
[09:09] In 2030, pulling forward a target that they' set out in their IPO prospectus, third starship at the next test flight.😊
[09:09] Could happen later this month. The rocket's heat shield problem that they had in recent tests is essentially solved, and Spacex expects to be.
[09:09] In launching its next generation Starlink V3 satellites and its first orbital AI data center satellites.
[09:09] Next year, in that case with NviDdia Comp architecture, finally, watch out AT&T, Verizon and T Mobile.
[09:09] Bax says it's building a hybrid satellite and terrestrial mobile network and believes it can win customers.
[09:09] Those US carriers by eliminating dead zones and the stocks of those carriers reacted sharply during the course of SpaceX's first ever.😊
[09:10] Cterly earnings call, the story is one about growth short, near medium term and long term.😊
[09:10] But a lot of momentum was SpaceX, this is Ed Dolow for Bloomberg News in San Francisco Dave.😊
[09:10] Spics is also what, not the stock, you know, it's some of its AI plans, I suppose, but it's also interesting.😊
[09:10] In the context of China, right, because there were those rumblings that maybe theyre trying to take the Chinese out of their supply chain in way.
[09:10] And the reports about Tela, although must kind of debunk it Yes, yes, that's a big picture and then people talking about how you know when it comes to.
[09:10] Tesla SpaceX, a merger is a matter of when not if, so that was something else that we were watching out coming into today as well, but I guess.
[09:10] The geo politicalical backdrop when it comes to today's market reaction that we're expecting on the Chinese optical names given this report.
[09:10] V ban underway right and against that backdrop will show some of these other, I guess, macro data points services.
[09:11] rating dogs coming out, I think today in about 20 minutes or so, so we'll see what happens with that, obviously we've talked about a lot of the stocks and sectors we're tracking from.
[09:11] perO, of course, and we're still waiting. In fact, I'm just zero in now on a terminal because we should be getting pricing in the premarkets of Zhongji andi.
[09:11] And on the back of a really strong rally a day prior, keep in mind, a0 boxes is what we're tracking today.
[09:11] It's looking like we could take that out, the IPO price in Hong Kong several days ago was about 900 something, and we've rallied certainly since that.
[09:11] Poin in time, low turnoverer, we talked about that. neo on Streng F, Caty Pacific. Okay, we now have pricing down 15% in.
[09:11] Zong X in lights, eight shares are trading about 15% lower, just to also mention, do not be surprised if you see the a share.
[09:11] Counterparts, which should be giving you pricing in a couple of minutes also to see similar declines on the back of that report.
[09:12] We got Reuters that the US is drafting some rules here to perhaps ban some of these components.
[09:12] From USA centers, we'll have more ahead, including a fuller preview with a trading session ahead, this is the China show.
[09:13] 🎼Oh hello there, just wanted to say Primeer is back.
[09:13] 🎼We've been scouring the frontiers of science and technology to help explain the difference between the next gold rush and whatever this thing is.
[09:13] 🎼And in season2 the stake more danger. now that's some high grade ir mineralization state.
[09:13] Climate on this earth right now we do not science' pushing a of technology.
[09:13] 🎼So very and more CEOs can nail the.
[09:13] Hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars are at stake while the problems are economic, the solutions are two.
[09:13] 🎼And yes, we'll be talking about A. There's a lot of humanoid hyp out there. but our future doesn't run on.
[09:14] 🎼It runs on Watch season two on all these lovely channels.
[09:14] 🎼About start and you're already looking for that edge The opening trade brings you everything you need to know as markets open across Europe I'm Johnson.
[09:14] 🎼I'm Anna Edwards and I'm Tom McK this is your opening trade only on B bringing you up to the minute geopoli.
[09:14] NewWhen and wherever it happens, i'm am hoern in onnkor Turkey. this is bloomberg.
[09:14] All right, taking a look at the early indication.
[09:14] Of the market reaction to our top story, really on the reported US ban to come on Chinese components for you.
[09:14] Data centers and we're already seeing this massive reversal from yesterday's rally in the likes of Jones.😊
[09:14] In optical name that was part of the beneficiaries that we were tracking just a day ago after nvidia announced its.
[09:15] Package optical c has entered mass production so that was a drive up, but then you have these reported.
[09:15] That could come and things are starting to change, but against the backdrop of all that let's bring in our.
[09:15] But markets reporter Anthony Steven, So you've be watching that in terms of movers, market reaction, What else you're watching The that is flat.
[09:15] It's not bad, you know is participating a little bit, given the overall geopolitical kind of headwinds, it's not a bad performance.
[09:15] It will be important to see how the Chinese semiconductor ecosystem performs as a whole, so Ill we talking about foundries and memory.
[09:15] So CXMT will be very interesting to watch whether it continues to rally alongside Samsung or Hyix or does it start to trade as like a China play?
[09:15] AConstraint from the US. market because it's important right, we've heard these reports that US companies are looking for CSMT chips.
[09:16] Not only Apple, but recently H as well, so whether they can get CXMT chips, but the AI servers can't.
[09:16] At photoelectrics, that's going to be very interesting dispersion. So that trade is very much alive. parts or what parts of the As.😊
[09:16] Ft changes, the US won from China. And what does it want to curb, Because that's now an evolving space. It's a debate that didn't exist before. And now we have.
[09:16] This kind of relaxation of policy on Chinese openweight LLMs and how does that play out the software space.😊
[09:16] The US has been rallying very sharply because they have these cheap tools to work with. Now, That's another evolving debate. Taiwan and Korea,.
[09:16] Yeah, and should we be surprised if we see a similar move down when Shenzhen comes online?
[09:16] And the China index, in the similar names, the Asia counterparts of these Yeah, look, I would not be surprised at all, given the scale of risk management.
[09:16] It needs to happen to adjust to something like this, right, The local retail is very long. This space. the government is trying to.
[09:17] Protect them from themselves with some of this kind of national team buying in ETFs and whatnot. But ahead of fundamental news like this.
[09:17] Will they bother to step in today, That is an open question. The other thing since you brought it up, right, So what's leading or what's keeping Han tech.
[09:17] Today, mini Max is up four drup was up about 4% unsurprising to you, because of the open weight LM?
[09:17] We needed the US government to pick a lane, and for now they've gone with the side of the largest software industry.😊
[09:17] To help American companies get cheaper AI, to produce the software, like Valer, for example, yesterday was up 30%, right.
[09:17] Very painful short position for long shots. So thatll be very interesting to watch. Anthony, fantastic. Thank you so much. Great setup as we go into the opening bell today, just.😊
[09:17] four and a half minutes away here, so we're looking at that obviously copper related stock, caty Pacific reporting earnings, the opening bell.
