[10:30] As it looks to try and diversify its production base and President Iauro also told Bomberg.
[10:30] Ex that Shionogi is pursuing a series of m a deals.
[10:30] For a lot of opportunities, actually, we're actively pursuing minimum three deals today and of course the.
[10:30] We're not able to guarantee you, we're going to go all three.
[10:30] This is something that we continuously will do and of course, the Japanese market is very.
[10:30] ImportantAnd US market is very important, too, and we are going to keep growing.
[10:30] The European market as well, so those are the three major geographies we're looking into.
[10:30] See going back to this, it's a hot topic globally, some pharmaceutical companies have mentioned theyre being more cautious about.
[10:31] Closing certain clinical trial results early because of Chinese farm abilities to kind of replicate the results or make very similar drugs.
[10:31] In a short amount of time is this something that is on your radar and that Shigi is similarly cautious about a small molecule.
[10:31] Even historically, was exposed to the things.
[10:31] You described so when we're submitting the intellectual property, we have been very cautious.
[10:31] And we have been aiming to as the thoroughly as possible to create the good.
[10:31] ISo yes, we recognize, but I don't think it's only unique for China.
[10:31] Companies are so competitive and everybody is holding a lot of radar screens for the innovation.
[10:32] So it's a competition, we admit that, so having all said that how we maintain our strength.
[10:32] The only thing is we keep running into the top notch science in terms of the Harvard.
[10:32] And differentiate ourselves from the other companies Okay, so the strategy around hasn't really changed because it's always been quite competitive when it comes the small molecule.
[10:32] Well, I think I believe you became CEO and president of Shoo in 2008, so you've been running the company now for almost two decades.
[10:32] How are you thinking about kind of the next generation of leadership at the company Well is one of the.
[10:32] You know important things for our board again in my companys board members is almost outside members they.
[10:32] Have the course to be concerned for the future leadership team of Shiinogi so we are.
[10:32] knowCreating the team, both the outside board members, and we picked up the four or five.
[10:33] youngerger generation who they believe can be a possibility of my successor. So since last year.
[10:33] Very active in the training of those folks, but at the same time, we acquired the you know.
[10:33] U company, the relationship with Bebe is getting stronger and stronger, so that takes time.
[10:33] ToHerit what we have been doing to new leadership team. So takes probably a3 to4.
[10:33] Were used to almost create the candidate team to succeed.
[10:33] In the currenti, the business model, we just nominated Dr. John Keller.
[10:33] The first the known Japanese board member, so John and I are almost teaming up to take care of various things including the.
[10:34] Relationship with the GSK, US companies so we tried to.
[10:34] Cony all those experiences and networks to a younger generation in next three to four years rhetoric.
[10:34] Now globally, I mean, around the world about geopolitical tension, trade barriers just last month, U.. President Trump also have mentioned.
[10:34] He intends to put a big tariff on generics going into the U understand Shi doesn't have a.
[10:34] I on generics, but you guys are very you know focused on your message about access to health care and medicines I'm just curious how what you think about.
[10:34] This type of kind of tense rhetoric and how it might impact the future of the pharmaceutical industry globally.
[10:34] Good question, the pharmaceutical manufacturing, as you know, is heavily regulated by each.
[10:34] I the health authorityity, FDA, EMA, PMDA, ILW.
[10:35] It's not easy to move the manufacturing site from country A to country B or place.
[10:35] ATo Pra B, having us said that the probably five to 10 years landscape, our company is way of thinking.
[10:35] s we really want to almost diversify the manufacturing capabilities.
[10:35] Japan, US and part of Europe.
[10:36] At 930 am the market tells you what it's really thinking we beat the drum to the opening bell.
[10:36] Deep analysis of the forces driving the price action focusing investors on what really matters where the money flows, which markets are changing.
[10:36] Converations, the players shaping the narrative innovative growth companies gravitate to NAsdaq it's not just like let's buy the mag7 or AI.
[10:36] That's a really compelling story, this is where your trading day begins and this is open interests only on bloomberg.
[10:36] Welcome to Bloomberg this weekend I'm da, I' lis mateay and I'm christina Raffiti we're tracking breaking news today from Wall Street to washing.
[10:36] Bloomberg this weekend bringing a little Bberg into your weekend routine, watch listen stream.
[10:36] 🎼thepolit news and wherever it happens Im Turkey this.
[10:37] B.
[10:37] Okay, I have a feeling this is a headline we'll be talking a lot more in the next couple of hours or so Reuters reporting Samsung and EsK Heney.
[10:37] A testing Amex chip tools at its- well at factories in China.
[10:37] We're looking at this specific soccer up 11% on the back of that, 12%, this is of course, a listing on the Chinese mainland well keep an eye.
[10:37] This and how this obviously affects the supply chain conversation ever evolving supply chain conversation, but yes we are.
[10:37] Trying to figure out more details on this market is it's fair to say there is some reaction across markets today on the back of but the stock was already out.
[10:37] Going into the last couple of minutes in yeah I think AI cross current is a fair way to put it perfectly, given how we've also been seeing.
[10:38] It's interesting, foreigners are still selling South Korean stocks, right, but we have been seeing that rebound steadily on the Korean won.
[10:38] Take look at the EMFx complex as well, given how these lower oil prices rent below 80. That's something that's helpful.
[10:38] tailwindMaybe they break out to the upside as well. Were watching some of these very energy important.
[10:38] Econ including India, we have an Rbi decision due today, not expected to do anything expected to keep the report.
[10:38] At 5.25% for an analysis of bringing Panju Vanandari, chief India Economist and Strategist at HSBC.
[10:38] set to keep things on hold the RB today, but maybe some tightening in the later parts of the year.
[10:38] What do you think needs to be done here Yeah, absolutely, just to take a step back, I think India is.
[10:38] at this point of time growth has been holding up pretty well. external finances have really improved with the Fx package that the central bank.
[10:39] and inflation hasn't really taken off. So all of this means that the R can sit and do nothing in this policy meeting and.
[10:39] Expecting no change in policy rates, but there are two more policy meetings coming up later in the calendar year in October and December.
[10:39] And our sense is that inflation would have risen enough by then to call for a rate hike, both in the October and the December.
[10:39] Meeting overall recording for two rate hikes in this RB rate hiking cycle, nothing today but in October and December.
[10:39] Right, and how does that then feature into your growth forecast, perhaps even for next year, because I would imagine any hikes this year would show up?
[10:39] At the earliest next year, I think there are just too many things going on. I think what we have right now.
[10:39] That growth has been remarkably resilient in India, on the back of a lot of the policy stimulus in the system last.
[10:40] Like GST tax cuts, which are still holding up consumption pretty well. And then in the heart of the energy crisis, we found producers actually.
[10:40] Use a lot more rather than cutting down on production because there was a lot of front loading of production, there was a rise in exports.😊
[10:40] To the US because tariffs levied on India had fallen dramatically from 50% to 10%, so all of that has held growth pretty well.
[10:40] And I think that's going to be the story of most of this calendar year. But come early 2027, I think India needs to grapple with the.
[10:40] , which is expected to strengthen around October December, and the impact of that, I think would be felt in early 2027.
[10:40] But we are not there right now, we're in a place right now where growth is extremely strong.
[10:40] We've also been seeing how the rupee has been relatively supported. Theres been that of.
[10:40] What are you expecting in terms of how sustainable that all is, are you expecting more intervention to come as well?
[10:41] Well, the RBI announced a very big package on5th of June, trying to attract a lot of.
[10:41] Money from Ns, the non resident Indians, putting it back to India. And I think the scheme did very well in the first two months.
[10:41] Of the scheme, India has been able to get in $40 billion, which is quite a lot. And today, the Rbi's watchches of reserves.
[10:41] strong enough for it to intervene quite a lot, and it has been intervening in markets for the last 10 to 15 days in a fairly aggressive way and my sense.
[10:41] It has firepower to continue that so from that perspective, I think our outlook on the INR is fairly positive at this point.
[10:41] Of course, a lot depends on oil prices, a lot depends on what happens to the U dollar, but the RBI has a lot more reserves.
[10:41] right now than it had see three months ago I was going to ask you that what do you think they will be using that money.
[10:42] I mean, I mean they could do two things, they could retire, I mean they could accumulate those reserves or they could just manage some of their near term liabilities, which one do you think?
[10:42] ll and it's a good problem to have, obviously these inflows.
[10:42] Things turn out, but my sense is that at this point of time, the central bank would want to see an INR, which is stable.
[10:42] Or perhaps outperforming the region, you know, which is what has been happening since the 5th of Junene, and I think it will use reserves if needed to.
[10:42] You know, to create that environment for the INR, so for now, I think the mode is going to be a little more interventionist, perhaps.😊
[10:42] Later on, you know, it can take a step back. You talked about how growth looks quite robust.
[10:42] But what are the risks to that aside from maybe if we look at El Nino further out into the impact in 2027 because there are some of these struggle.
[10:42] Balnecks for the Indian economy as well, including concerns about job creation.
[10:43] Well, yes, you know, I think job creation is an issue globally right now, but in terms of the main risks that India is facing, there are a couple.😊
[10:43] I think number one is oil prices, when it goes closer to $90 a barrel, I think it starts hurting the economy.
[10:43] $80 is still fine. but as soon as it's closer to 90, I think that hurts. So that's one big risk. The second is, how strong will the El N.
[10:43] Come towards the year end. I think that will matter a lot for agricultural production, which makes up about 20% of India's GDP and.
[10:43] Of course there is what happens globally to the US dollar or to USS rates, I think a lot of people will also be watching.
[10:43] Interest rate differential between India and the U. so if US yields, U rates were to rise, then how would that look from the Fx front is?
[10:43] Sort of an important risk that has to be monitored. But I also agree with you that it's not just about all of these short term things. There's also a lot of reforms that the.
[10:44] I think the remarkable reform that I have seen in the last one year has been the speed with which many trade deals have been signed.
[10:44] You know, with UK, with EU and a couple of other big countries, and my sense is once these get activated, we could see a.
[10:44] A lot more F inflows into the country and exports. So I would say policymakers really need to focus on getting these trade deals implemented.
[10:44] As quickly and efficiently as possible. I think that will be good for growth and flows into the country.
[10:44] thank you so much Prajuel, Manria's chief India economist and strategists at hSBC and now let's also take a closer.
[10:44] Look at some of these lines across the terminal a short while ago against the backdrop of what seems like progress among some.
[10:44] Of these chip tool make us in chin, so AMuc seems to have been testing some of these tools.
[10:44] For China plants at Samsung and SK Hyn, so that is according to a report by Reuters and coming at a time.
[10:45] I suppose where China seems to have been making a fair bit of headway on deep ultraviolet litography.
[10:45] So maybe that speaks to the point that our analyst was talking about earlier, the AI race.
[10:45] And the headway that China' is making Yeah, I mean, this is a suddenly we're trying to figure out most people are trying to figure out, of course, the companys a Shanghai based, of course.
[10:45] Makes microfabrication equipment, hence, of course, AMEC, the sea being, of course, China.
[10:45] today. What else are we tracking. I think I was looking at something else in my telecomputer. but anyway, I'll read what's on it. That's.
[10:45] Our job is okay, the Hong Kong dollar we're very close, were as close as we have been recently to the weekend of the.
[10:45] U the trading ban to watch it closely, whether we get there for we cannot cross that, of course with the pig, Brent is down just to mention that to what else to watch?
[10:46] Cathay earnings, we have a CGB auction 30 year and updates in the weather, lots more ahead on Bloberg television, we will see you all tomorrow.
[10:46] On the China show.
[10:47] You're going to see disruption in certain job functions, I don't see how that's not possible.
[10:47] And I don't see how anybody can look at people in the eye and say that's not possible what percentage of customer service gets displaced?
[10:47] It can be a large percentage of customer service, I think that function, I forgot my password word, you know, what's my billing amount?
[10:47] Those are all simple and easy things for an agent to go do like what we're seeing in our customer service right now is.
[10:47] The road stuff can be done by agents, more complex is a combination of an agent.
[10:48] 🎼A human working hand in hand to be able to satisfy that customer much better than either of them could do alone.
[10:48] You'll see all of those things happen, but I'm good only in heavy as I think all of my colleagues will.
[10:48] All the Fortune 100 will lean heavy on AI, you cannot be a part of this age without understanding.
[10:48] The technological revolution, we have a responsibility to put serious money, resource and effort.
[10:48] Into training, not just our employees, not just people that are impacted, but the communities we serve as well.
[10:48] Because that's the age we live in.
[10:48] How do you see AI changing gaming and game development in the future?
[10:48] ing that I'm thinking about is how do we just make sure it's solving problems on the game development side have gone to a lot of our studios, you know.
[10:49] Big and small, and I'm blown away with how they're using AI and the production pipelines, how they're using it for iteration and prototyping.
[10:49] productionion ready, there's still work and so and you know, 30% of game development and software and so there's the traditional applications.
[10:49] We see enterprise at the same time, I do not think AI will replace AAA games. I think it's entirely possible though.
[10:49] That AI represents a new category of games and a new type of development and enables more people to create and participate.
[10:49] And we'll keep an eye on that and we'll see how we best serve that.
