[17:00] 🎼way and the end gives up almost half the gains driven by the Japan joint intervention.😊
[17:00] A mixed picture across Asia and the Friday session, let's check in with Winnie Sue in Hong Kong Winnie Yeah good morning Bonnie we are.
[17:00] A bit of a cautious mood in as today, especially with oil rebounding on these geopolitical uncertainties and ahead of that U.S. job.
[17:00] Data now for the costpi index we did end it in the RE, however, we saw Sk hinix trimming some of those losses in the post market trade.
[17:00] After the company filed plans to announce details of shareholder returns for third quarter and also a separate plan to spend 38.
[17:00] illion for its chip making facilities in South Korea and Chinese onshore stocks are a bit of a bright spot.
[17:00] Today, we did have quite positive trade data for both imports and exports seeing double digit growth on the global.
[17:00] I demand now flip of where we take a look across asset because we have asia bonds tracking those losses in the treasuries overnight.
[17:01] Also the Japanese yen, as you mentioned, still under some pressure having weakened pass that 158 level against the dollar.
[17:01] So thank you so much and have a wonderful weekend. Now, let's get a read on the European session to London with Justina Lee, Justina.😊
[17:01] Good morning Bonnie now it's a pretty quiet day ahead of that US jobs report with the bond yield kind of rising just a little bit of reflect.
[17:01] Some gains in oil now when it comes to the stocks year of 600 it's on track wrap of a fourth straight week of gains and.
[17:01] Today it's led by a lot of those health names, you know like rash and estrazeneca and novo nor you flip the board here i've been seeing all week that.
[17:01] Ho group 600 is reaching new highs and we can see here that it's been like steadily climbing recently and what you cannot see in this chart though is.
[17:01] Actually a lot of those gainss have brought in lately to a lot of different names and a lot of different sectors and that's on the back of what has been the best.
[17:02] season in a that's for sure we' not done yet. Just thank you so much. Just Lee there here in the US relatively.😊
[17:02] session before the non. we are seeing a nice gain for futures, though this after models declines yesterday for the major indice.😊
[17:02] Look at yields, though, because we did see a 5 to6 basis point increase in yields across the curve Unevenful, as I say this morning, werere just down by.
[17:02] This point on the 10 year 46678, but that is relatively elevated. this partially on oil higher, we're around $83.
[17:02] barrel now on Brent, also though after the productivity numbers came in better than expected and also the unit labor costs weren't as maybe.
[17:02] Dangerous as the Fed was maybe worried about. So let's now get a check on individual premarket movers back over to London.
[17:02] Good morning boonnie, we are seeing Airbnb up this morning after it lifted his guidance for the second time.😊
[17:02] This year it's really benefited from solid demand for travel in the U and Europe, despite those higher fuel costs, despite that weaker.😊
[17:03] Consumer confidence and so we are seeing quite a lot of enthusiasm around that stock this morning up about 9% moving on to cloud flareare, which is a jumping in.😊
[17:03] Pre market trading this morning after boosting its guidance were up about 15%, it seems that as aI adoption grows, there's also.
[17:03] 🎼A growing need as well for the digital defenses and so we're up there quite strongly and finally the digital advertising company.😊
[17:03] deskk is down this morning after some disappointing guidance and we had bloomberg attention analysts also saying that the company's turnaround is.
[17:03] Lo credibility so we're significantly this morning almost 28% for trade desk massive.
[17:03] a very volatile Chloe thank you so much Chloe meley there, she'll be back later in the hour, also coming up this hour, Rory Bll, CEO of gravity.😊
[17:03] Join us on AI security Ri and well look ahead to the jobs report with Christopher Hoch of Na.
[17:04] As Iranian media report Iran will seek to bar US and Israeli ships from the Strait of H. Iran also attacking hostile targets.
[17:04] The waterway,Meanwhile, President Trump insisting the war will end quote pretty soon. Bloberg's Air Abu Omar joins us from D.
[17:04] First, these attacks, a beer, what can you tell us about them? Yeah, good morning, Bnie. So essentially what we know.
[17:04] I that the UK Navy had in the morning said that the two ships were prone to getting attacked in the Strrait of Hers and then Iranianian media.
[17:04] I've said that it attacked two hostile targets now we don't know what kind of ships those are, but what we know for sure is that in the Strrat of Hers vessels,
[17:04] makingking their way through or trying to make their way through are still prone to getting attacked by the irian army that.
[17:04] The US naval blockade is still very much in place, and that is why we haven't seen a massive trickle of movement over the past couple of weeks or.
[17:04] Now, this is all happening while we understand that negotiations between Iran and Tahman have led to some kind of resolution a big.
[17:05] Out there is that we're now going by the word of Iranian state media that suggests that Iran will bar U.S. and Israeli ships.
[17:05] From going through the Strrait of Hermz, while also establishing some kind of toll system to ships of countries that it deems hostile.
[17:05] A lot of the traders are assuming that by the term hostile, Iran could be referring to tankers coming from GCC nations.
[17:05] The thing is sure yet we still need to find a formalized statement from Iran. our understanding for the time being is that that statement.
[17:05] I the Iranian parliament Washington had no involvement in those negotiations They merely happened between Iran and.
[17:06] conducted a large scale attack against forces from Yemen's Saudi backed to government, tell us about the attack and what it portends.
[17:06] Yeah, some casualties there as well, Vonnie, this is the biggest escalation between the two.
[17:06] A attacked.
[17:06] backed Saudiition of fact, just at the top of your show, we had a story from our energy colleagues suggesting.
[17:06] That are entering the Red Sea, the Red Sea is obviously the pathway the part of that and those tankers that are entering the Red Sea.
[17:06] Rere signaling other places to go. So another risk at another waterway, possibly driving energy prices even higher.
[17:07] We're seeing right now. Y, exactly, Abiir, Thank you so much, Bloomberg's Abiir Abu Omar. Let's get a check on the yen right.😊
[17:07] Now we are seeing that it's last nearly half of its gains it's above 158 since last week's intervention fueling speculation authorities.
[17:07] A again joining us now is Bloomberg's Ram. It was pretty controversial last week, then would the U get involved.
[17:07] AndSo quickly, given that the first intervention really hasn't done the job.
[17:07] Well, well, I think that the authorities are quickly finding out that look.
[17:07] There's no good bang for this buck really, you can keep intervening in the markets repeatedly and throw money good money at the markets, but the end is not going to.
[17:07] laAnd repay that faith in that comes from intervention, because what we have seen in the five.
[17:08] Episode startingting from June 2022 when they started intervening is in the five p bouts, the one month return on the enden.
[17:08] Has been negligible, next to negligible, except for one episode when other factors came into play. So really, there's no historical.
[17:08] Evidence that these interventions work in favor of the again, and I think that the real answer lies with the BOJ, not Japan's finance minister is.
[17:08] The Bank of Japan needs to put up rates at a fast pace, at a fast enough pace to take it in neutral that will solve.
[17:08] A lot of the problems that the Japanese authorities are trying to save themselves from and it is so that is where.
[17:08] And until such statin that happens, then is not going to see its fortunes turn around. Then I have to ask you.
[17:08] You made a the fT report yesterday on Kevine wash on the potential for a seem hike, did it change your opinion on how likely it is?
[17:08] That we'll have a hike in September Well, if you're good to assume that the Fed is independent for me,.
[17:09] You know, the chorus of voices coming out from the F is pretty clear, I think more and more are leaning towards rat hike sooner rather than late.
[17:09] We already got three percent last week last month, so I think that you know if the US economy continues to grow at the pay resil.
[17:09] Pas it has been, and we'll get evidence of that with a non form payroll report today, and I think that if that resilience continues.
[17:09] You've got an economy that is growing solidly above trend, you've got the AI boost to productivity, and yet you have where inflation running.
[17:09] For the past five years above target, so the question is what's not to raise rates, so I think that the Fed should be looking to raise rates here.
[17:09] All right,, thank you so much Bloomberg's Ram now to all the top stories trending on the terminal this morning SpaceX.
[17:09] Giving up some of those gains after the lockup expiration, nearly 912 million shares were released worth about $100 billion.
[17:10] 🎼Roer coast rides since the IPO, many of the company's early investors are sitting on paper gains S He will3.
[17:10] to build new semiconductor fabs in South Korea is part of a strategy to expand am mid to long term memory production capacity.
[17:10] Bank of America's bull and bear reading times to its highest level since 2021, strategists saying investor bullishness is so.
[17:10] That traders should start reducing exposure to risky assets, instead investing in defensive assets.
[17:10] Coming up, Rory bll, ce of AI Age management platform, gravity joins us on the growing thread of AI driven cyber attacksack.
[17:10] Bloomberg.
[17:12] 🎼Andlo more than what you need to we this is bloomberg.
[17:12] 🎼And that revolution is playing out in real time, from finance to defense tech, AI to entertainment from the road.
[17:13] Its jobs day and bloomloberg has the report under surveillance.
[17:13] 🎼I at terminal speed, the labor market seems okay. We don't see any wage pressurees in the economy. We building up to one thing.
[17:13] The Julyly jobs report today on bloomloomberg.
[17:13] Over 17,000 different actions taken over.
[17:13] 🎼4 and a half days. So the speed.
[17:14] 🎼To was a CEO of hugging face there warning about the growing security risks from AI agents after the company was.
[17:14] The hacked by open AI joining us now is Rory B LCceE, really all of the major companies that are doing this.😊
[17:14] Are we supposed to take away from the fact that they can break out and hack or get up to some?
[17:14] And specifically on Kevin Walsh and the Federal Reserve, he was responding to a question on rate hikes and he said it's not completely up to Walsh.
[17:15] On whether the fed hikes.
[17:15] Hikes rates before the vote is unclear clear.
[17:15] And then he calls them several times over someday.
[17:15] not clear whether they speak about monetary policy Let's go back to Rory Bll, now CEO and founder of gravityity. So once again, Rory.
[17:15] Why should we be concerned, It seems like all of these major AI models have the capacity to break out of their sandboxes and create a mischief.
[17:15] malin in the Well, firstly, good morning, lovely to meet you.😊
[17:16] I think that we should be concerned, actually, in relation to this. I think that what this really tells us at the moment is how powerful these models are.
[17:16] Yes,But also, it tells us to get real economic benefits from all of these models and from AI at the moment, The thing we must be.
[17:16] cusAs a society is governance, security and control. That is what this really highlights to us at the moment.
[17:16] So in that sense, who are we supposed to count on for governance because it seems like every sovereign wants to govern their own AI?
[17:16] And at the same time, they also all maybe want to have open sources available to everybody, so how does it all work, Rori?
[17:16] Are going to get That's a good question, I think the last word that you use is part of it, Vonny.
[17:16] Think it's the total answer. What it requires is businesses to recognize that the security and governance controls.
[17:17] We built over the course of the last, let's say, 20 to 30 years for the internet age, don't forget about those security guards.
[17:17] Really matter thing that we must clarify here in relation to this, that we shouldn't.
[17:17] Agents themselves or AI systems are sentient beings, and we shouldn't conflate humans.
[17:18] If you look at one of the hacks.
[17:18] That happened this week with the anthropic model that happened as it was deployed by the UK's AI Security Institute.
[17:18] This was something that happened in the real world went and.
[17:18] if that piece of malicious code was implemented in.😊
[17:18] P of software. you would now have a bug in that software, And potentially that would spawawn a lot of things. So it would have a potentially very large economic impact, So we should.
[17:18] Concerned, but the way that we gain.😡
[17:18] Efforting for this to happen, I mean, anthropic moonshot and so on, because if AI agents are breaking out.
[17:18] Their sandbox,Why do they automatically want to hack, Why don't they want to do something else, are they prompted to hack?
[17:19] In environments where they're actually testing.
[17:19] How powerful these models are. They want to see that if you have the guardrails taken off these models. So if you take any of these models that we're talking about.
[17:19] That you're interacting with, you've actually got many guardrails around it that are determining, hey, is this trying to do something that is this user or this?
[17:19] And doing something that it shouldn't be doing. And so what we actually see here is the network.
[17:19] So.
[17:19] That that's the way that really you get the benefit associated with them You actually say a human being should be responsible for the model.
[17:20] How would that work That's a good question I think that fundamentally that must come back to some aspect of regular.
[17:20] And in society is where agents that are operating on behalf of organizations, they need to have a register within.
[17:20] izations that are outlining what is the.
[17:20] C and founder of gravity coming up a look at what's making headlines in your front page news next.
[17:22] We're invested in another restaurant, so it's just too cheap at Shake Shack operational.
[17:22] That you think that they should be making and that you would push to make.
[17:22] Or you have a franchisee do it.
[17:22] So the opportunity here isn't so much operationally, we think they do a great job there the opportunity is to continue their.

[17:25] Hodge of na Texas, this is Bberg.
[17:27] 🎼What is Mira Mudi's vision for the future dystopia ortop?
[17:27] To me, feels very, very simplified because the truth is we actually have a lot of agency in how we build.
[17:27] 🎼This technology in the tools that we're building, how we're deploying it. It's not a predestined outcome.
[17:27] those risks, we all understand the potential for greatness that comes with building frontier eye systems.
[17:27] And this way we're working on them, there's been a lot of talk around the uncertainty around the downsides.
[17:27] 🎼I agree with a lot of these risks and perhaps where I might.
[17:27] agree or take a different path is that I think we have a lot of agency like this period of time where both.
[17:28] Humans and AI systems have their hands on the wheel and we can collaborate it's a very important time to get.
[17:28] 🎼Right and the more that we can reduce that discontinuity that comes from new capabilities and huge.
