FREMONT, Calif., Aug. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Lam Research Corp. (NASDAQ: LRCX) today announced that Michael ("Mike") R. Cannon and Sohail U. Ahmed have informed the company of their respective decisions to retire from Lam's Board of Directors, effective November 2, 2026, following years of leadership.
"Mike's deep expertise in executive leadership and his passion for innovation have been invaluable in guiding Lam through strategic geographic growth and expanding its technology leadership in deposition, etch and advanced packaging," said Abhi Talwalkar, chair of the board at Lam Research. "Sohail's deep industry experience and understanding of silicon logic and semiconductor processing equipment technologies have been assets to our board. We thank Mike and Sohail for their dedication and many significant contributions and wish them well in their retirements."
Joining the Lam Board of Directors in 2011, Cannon retires after a career spanning more than 40 years of transformational leadership and innovation in several technology industries.
Most recently, Cannon held senior advisory and board roles providing guidance to technology companies on global strategy, business transformation, and operational excellence. At Seagate Technology Holdings, plc, he served on the board for fifteen years including five years as the lead independent director and five years as the board Chairman. Seagate recently announced that he will retire from the board later this year. He has also served on the boards of Dialog Semiconductor plc from 2013 until its sale to Renesas Electronics in 2021, and previously was on the board of Adobe Systems for 13 years.
Previously, Cannon held CEO and other executive leadership positions at top technology companies, most recently as the President of Global Operations at Dell Technologies leading the worldwide transformation of operations, supply chain and logistics functions. Prior to Dell, he was president and CEO of Solectron, a global electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider, where he led the company through a major transformation, including a comprehensive restructuring plan resulting in an increased focus on design services. Previously he was CEO of Maxtor Corporation, a disk drive technology leader, for seven years including a successful IPO in 1998 and the company's acquisition by Seagate in 2006. Cannon also held several senior leadership positions at IBM, including Vice President of the Personal Storage Systems Division, with P&L responsibility for disk drive and storage solutions products. Earlier in his career, he worked as a mechanical engineer in the R&D organization of Boeing and was named an Inventor of the Year in 1983.
Joining the Lam Board of Directors in 2019, Ahmed was formerly senior vice president and general manager of the Technology and Manufacturing Group at Intel Corporation, a leading producer of microchips, computing and communications products, where he was responsible for overseeing the research, development and deployment of next-generation silicon logic technologies for the production of future Intel microprocessors. He held that position from 2015 to 2018. Immediately prior to that, he was corporate vice president and general manager, Logic Technology Department, at Intel from 2004 to January 2015. Ahmed joined Intel in 1984, working as a process engineer, and held progressive technical and management positions in logic process development.
