Homeplus重开后销售恢复但仍受预付款供货和法院重整表决约束

Homeplus said on the 31st that it booked 116.4 billion won in sales between its Aug. 13 reopening and the 30th, up 57% from the same period just before it suspended operations. Customer traffic rose 38% and the number of members making purchases jumped 255%.
Discount retailers normally pay suppliers out of the proceeds from goods they have already sold, but Homeplus must pay for merchandise upfront after entering court receivership. The company is currently taking in only as much inventory as it can prepay within its available operating funds. Homeplus expects deliveries to gradually return to normal once its rehabilitation plan wins court approval.
"Through the rehabilitation process, we closed loss-making stores and drastically cut costs, which sharply improved profitability," a Homeplus official said. "Our customer base is solid, so once deliveries are made normally, we will be able to fully restore operations."
Homeplus had temporarily reopened 67 stores nationwide from Aug. 7 after shutting them down, then formally reopened them on the 13th following inspections and repairs. It also ran discount promotions to draw shoppers back and sustain the sales recovery. My Homeplus members were offered up to 50% off all Korean beef products, and its Dangdang fried chicken was sold at about 3,400 won, roughly half the regular price.
