Hyundai Glovis (086280) is expanding its overseas revenue by signing a series of shipping contracts with Chinese manufacturers.
Hyundai Glovis said on the 27th that it recently signed a shipping contract with a leading Chinese battery maker. Under the deal, Hyundai Glovis will transport electric vehicle batteries produced by the company by sea from South China's southern coastal region to Hungary, Spain, and Italy, where global automakers operate plants.
Earlier, Hyundai Glovis also signed contracts to transport knock-down (KD) automobile parts and press plant equipment to a major Chinese EV maker's factory in Eastern Europe.
Under the contracts, since the first half of this year, Hyundai Glovis has been transporting vehicle parts and press plant equipment sourced from shipping points in East China by sea to Slovenia and Croatia, then delivering them to the factories overland by truck. East China is home to a concentration of Chinese advanced manufacturers in areas such as EVs and semiconductors.
Hyundai Glovis has also won a contract to handle vehicle disassembly and packaging for a Chinese automaker. Under the deal, the company takes delivery of vehicles produced in China, conducts quality inspections at warehouses, then disassembles and packs them before loading them into containers and transporting them to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan via the Trans-China Railway (TCR).
In addition, Hyundai Glovis transports cargo for numerous Chinese automakers by sea using its pure car and truck carriers (PCTC). The volume of China-origin finished vehicles that Hyundai Glovis transported by sea via PCTC over the past three years rose about 93%, from approximately 260,000 units in 2023 to about 510,000 units last year.
Expanding non-affiliate clients is part of Hyundai Glovis's efforts to achieve the mid- to long-term vision it previously laid out. In 2024, Hyundai Glovis said it would "make the transport of affiliate cargo the top priority while increasing non-affiliate clients to reach a revenue target of 40 trillion won by 2030."
"Based on our transport competitiveness, we will continue to expand logistics cooperation with mobility-related companies around the world," a Hyundai Glovis official said.
