韩华海洋获得面向拉美FPSO标准船型的ABS和DNV认证

Hanwha Ocean (042660.KS) has obtained global classification society certifications for a standard offshore plant model targeting Latin America, moving to strengthen its competitiveness in winning orders.
Hanwha Ocean received Basic Design Review (BDR) certification from the U.S. classification society ABS for the front-end engineering design (FEED) of a standard floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit tailored to the Latin American market. It also simultaneously obtained Approval in Principle (AIP) from Norway's classification society DNV.
The certified model will be optimized and applied to Latin America, a region where large-scale project orders are expected to continue. Earlier, Hanwha Ocean also developed a "standard FPSO concept design (Pre-FEED)" that can be deployed across deep-water areas of West Africa, obtaining AIP simultaneously from ABS and France's classification society BV last year.
An FPSO is an offshore plant that draws crude oil or gas from subsea wells, refines and stores it, and handles offloading onto transport vessels. It is often called a "refinery on the sea."
Demand in the global FPSO market has recently been expanding, centered on major deep-water oil fields in Latin America and West Africa. By additionally developing a standard model suited to the Latin American market this time, Hanwha Ocean has built a standard FPSO portfolio that covers major offshore plant markets including Latin America and West Africa.
Hanwha Ocean developed the model to improve efficiency in design, procurement and construction based on a proven standard platform, moving away from its existing approach centered on customized designs for each project. This is expected to allow the company to simultaneously shorten project execution periods and improve cost competitiveness.
"Through obtaining these certifications from ABS and DNV, our FPSO design capabilities and technological competitiveness have been recognized worldwide," a Hanwha Ocean official said. "We will strengthen our competitiveness in winning orders based on a differentiated standard platform in the global FPSO market, and provide solutions optimized to the characteristics and requirements of each region, including Latin America and West Africa."
