WEMIX Dollar遭攻击被无授权增发并脱锚，Wemade生态服务暂停

WEMIX Dollar (WEMIX$), a dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by Wemade, saw tens of billions of won worth of tokens minted without authorization due to a hack. The price, which had been pegged at $1 per coin, plunged to $0.0008. Market observers say the incident is a prime example demonstrating the security vulnerabilities of privately issued stablecoins.
According to financial industry sources on the 27th, at 6:17 p.m. the previous day, administrative privileges related to WEMIX Dollar were seized, and a total of $5.22 million (about 7.6 billion won) worth of WEMIX Dollar was minted without authorization. Around 7 p.m. the same day, following the security breach, WEMIX Dollar fell from $1 to $0.0008, losing its dollar-pegging function. The price plunge is believed to have occurred as about 1 billion won worth of WEMIX Dollar that flowed out externally was sold off. As Wemade suspended WEMIX Dollar-related services to prevent further damage, the price has yet to recover.
WEMIX Dollar is a stablecoin issued and operated by the Wemix Foundation, Wemade's Singapore entity, with the aim of maintaining a one-to-one value peg with the U.S. dollar. Wemade said that immediately after confirming the abnormal transaction, it suspended all related services and recovered liquidity.
Analysts say this incident carries significant meaning because, unlike a typical hack in which a user's wallet private key is stolen, the control over stablecoin issuance itself was attacked. The industry expects the incident to also affect discussions on institutionalizing won-based stablecoins. Some point out that not only the stability of reserve assets but also the management of issuance and burning privileges and internal control systems must be verified together. A blockchain industry official said, "A response system that can freeze and recover assets immediately after an incident occurs is needed."
