Hyundai Engineering & Construction (000720) said on the 26th that it has developed an "Allergy Care Solution" for managing indoor air quality. The technology combines a high-performance heat recovery ventilator with a room-by-room ventilation system that adjusts airflow for each space, aiming to reduce allergy triggers in daily life.
The high-performance heat recovery ventilator uses electrostatic spray and photoionization technologies. Electrostatic spray electrolyzes moisture in the air to remove up to 99% of airborne bacteria. Photoionization reduces harmful gases by up to 96% through a reaction between a specific light source and a photocatalyst. Hyundai E&C said it completed performance verification of the technologies through accredited bodies including the Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL) and the Korea Conformity Laboratories (KCL).
The room-by-room ventilation system automatically adjusts airflow to concentrate fresh air in the space a user selects. It delivers rapid ventilation of more than six air changes per hour, well above the legal standard of 0.5 changes per hour, allowing it to quickly clean the air in kitchens or children's rooms.
Hyundai E&C plans to add the solution's smart operation feature to its housing platform applications, including "My Hillstate" and "My DH." The feature will analyze indoor air quality data to set the optimal operating mode and provide air quality information for each space along with the operating status of devices. It will also include a function that ventilates automatically based on indoor conditions. The company will also finalize product specifications and application standards.
The HMG Construction Technology Research Institute is a combined research and development organization for Hyundai E&C and Hyundai Engineering, and it handles research and development of artificial intelligence and data-based smart housing technologies and healthcare services, the company said.
An official at the HMG Construction Technology Research Institute said, "As environmental diseases increase and interest in indoor air quality rises, housing technology that systematically manages the indoor environment is becoming more important," adding, "We expect the Allergy Care Solution to deliver differentiated residential value." The official also said, "We will continue developing technologies for residents' healthy lives and convenience, further expanding the housing philosophy and values of Neo Living."
