Jobis & Villains, the operator of tax refund platform SamJeomSam, said on the 1st that it will take part in the Ministry of Science and ICT's "AI for All" program, which aims to make artificial intelligence services universally available to the public.
The program supports companies in developing and launching AI services so that all citizens can use AI easily in daily life. On the 28th of last month, the ministry selected three consortiums led by SK Telecom, Kakao and KT out of six that applied.
SamJeomSam joined as a participating company in the consortium led by Kakao, with LG Uplus as a core partner. The consortium now includes 14 companies and institutions in total, including SamJeomSam. It marks the first time SamJeomSam has taken part in a government-led project.
As a tax specialist in the consortium, SamJeomSam plans to help turn the tax expertise and technology infrastructure it has built up into AI services available to any citizen.
The company unveiled its own AI question-and-answer service, SamJeomSam Q, in March. The service was trained on more than 510,000 items of tax law, National Tax Service precedents and inquiry-response data using retrieval-augmented generation, or RAG. It also provides more than 20,000 pieces of expert-verified content reviewed by tax accountants and certified public accountants at partner tax firms. Since March, the company has linked the service to Kakao Tools to build an AI agent ecosystem together.
"Being selected for this government project is meaningful because it means SamJeomSam can apply the tax data, service experience and AI capabilities it has accumulated to a public AI service," said Kim Beom-seob, CEO of Jobis & Villains. "We will work on advancing our AI agent so that anyone can resolve everyday tax questions more easily and conveniently."
The AI for All service will first be released as a beta version this month, with a full launch planned within the year reflecting user feedback.
