Hyundai Wia (011210) saw its second-quarter operating profit decline more than 10 percent, hit by the impact of US tariffs and other factors.
Hyundai Wia reported second-quarter revenue of 2.3537 trillion won and operating profit of 50.4 billion won on a consolidated basis, the company said on the 24th. Revenue rose 8.0 percent from a year earlier, while operating profit fell 10.6 percent.
By business segment, the vehicle parts division posted revenue of 2.1799 trillion won, while other segments recorded revenue of 173.9 billion won, up 8.6 percent and 1.6 percent, respectively, from the second quarter of last year.
Hyundai Wia posted revenue growth driven by increased domestic automobile production volume and expanded sales of drivetrain components. However, operating profit declined due to the impact of US tariffs and investments in the mass production of thermal management components and hybrid engines.
"We are strengthening our foundation for future growth centered on thermal management systems, the defense industry and mobility solutions," a Hyundai Wia official said. "In the second half, we expect mass production of hybrid engines at our Mexico subsidiary to begin in earnest, and sales of drivetrain components and thermal management parts to continue increasing."
