韩华航空航天设立300亿韩元伙伴研发共享计划并扩大1500亿韩元共赢基金

Hanwha Aerospace (012450.KS), Korea's largest defense and aerospace company, is drawing attention for introducing a new shared-growth model that allows partner companies to boldly pursue research and development (R&D) without the burden of failure while sharing the results. Under the judgment that developing unprecedented new weapons is difficult without the growth and innovation of its partners, Hanwha Group is aggressively expanding its support programs.
According to industry sources on the 22nd, Hanwha Aerospace is selecting detailed R&D projects to participate in a total of 30 billion won worth of "Innovation Performance Sharing System" to advance defense cutting-edge technology and pursue shared growth.
For the first time this year, the company has decided that when partner companies undertake advanced R&D and localization of core components, it will fully fund all costs required for R&D, including direct development costs, research activity expenses, facility investment, and infrastructure. The first beneficiary company is scheduled to be selected during the second half of the year. Hanwha Aerospace will also fully cover partner companies' contributions when they participate in the government's small business R&D support programs, such as those run by the Korea Research Institute for Defense Technology Planning and Advancement (component localization) and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (public-private joint technology commercialization).
In particular, when a partner company that has successfully developed technology achieves competitiveness improvement effects in the first year of the contract, Hanwha will return all the results to the partner and provide a linked incentive that continues to attribute more than 50% thereafter. In addition, for technologies whose performance has been verified, it will link volume guarantees to support partner companies in continuing stable investment and growth.
R&D in defense cutting-edge strategic fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, based on the Innovation Performance Sharing System, is open to participation not only by existing Hanwha Aerospace partners but also by outside strong small companies and startups. Hanwha Aerospace plans to share intellectual property rights with participating companies to support small businesses in growing into leaders of defense technology innovation.
Hanwha Aerospace also personally scours the field to find promising talent. Last month, at "Next Rise 2026," Korea's largest venture and startup expo held at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul, the company became the first among Korea's comprehensive defense firms to participate, exhibiting partner components in the Win-Win Cooperation Zone. It also set out to discover small partner companies, ventures, and startups to participate in open innovation in the fields of ground weapons, guided weapons, and aviation.
Hanwha Aerospace is also significantly strengthening the financial support it operates for partner companies. To back the expanding defense demand and export opportunities, it will triple its existing 50 billion won shared-growth fund to 150 billion won. In addition, in a first for the defense industry, it will collaborate with the Defense Industry Association to newly establish a system to reduce advance payment performance guarantee fees and ease the financial burden on partner companies arising during the export contract process.
