Police have found no wrongdoing by a former Emart executive whom the retailer accused of a breach of trust involving 11.4 billion won.
Emart (139480.KS) said in a regulatory filing on the 13th that the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency decided not to refer the case of a former unregistered executive, surnamed Lee, who had faced charges of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes (breach of trust).
Police concluded the case as "no charge" on the 7th, determining that Lee's breach of trust allegations were not established. Emart received the notice of the investigation results that day.
Emart had earlier disclosed in November last year that it filed a complaint against Lee on breach of trust charges involving 11.4 billion won. At the time, Emart said the alleged amount was calculated based on the contents of the complaint and could change depending on the investigation results.
"We plan to consult with our law firm to review follow-up measures, including whether to file an appeal," Emart said. "We will also take action in accordance with lawful procedures regarding all matters that proceed going forward."
