LG Electronics (066570.KS) said on the 19th that it will partner with Hyundai Engineering & Construction to supply appliance subscription services to a redevelopment apartment complex of about 7,000 units in Apgujeong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
LG Electronics will provide subscription products combining premium built-in (custom) appliances and professional care (management) services for the new complexes to be built. Five to seven types of appliances, including refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, Styler, and dishwashers, will be offered as options, while penthouses will feature LG Electronics' ultra-premium brands 'SKS' and 'LG Signature.'
The professional care service allows LG Electronics' specialized managers to provide free support for disassembly cleaning and performance inspection of appliances for five years after residents move in. Even after the free period ends, residents can separately subscribe to have their products maintained.
Through this supply, LG Electronics plans to expand its entry into the business-to-business (B2B) market for appliance subscription services. As premium housing that enhances the value of residential space has recently become a key competitive advantage in the construction market, the B2B appliance market targeting construction companies is also growing.
On the 13th of this month, LG Electronics also partnered with GS Engineering & Construction to jointly develop a next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) residential system that provides integrated appliance, Internet of Things (IoT), and robot services to residential complexes under the 'Xi' apartment brand. LG Electronics is enhancing its AI home hub 'ThinQ ON,' which integrates and manages appliances and IoT devices, while also supplying the 'Our Complex Connect' service, an apartment-specific feature linked to ThinQ ON, to more than 300,000 households.
"We will successfully establish a subscription solution optimized for apartment living environments, providing customers with a convenient daily life and securing a new growth engine in the B2B market," said Park Jae-sung, head of LG Electronics' Korea B2B Group.
