Natera, Inc. (NTRA) and TransCode Therapeutics, Inc. (RNAZ) have entered into a strategic collaboration to support patient enrollment in TransCode's Phase 2a trial evaluating TTX-MC138 in colorectal cancer (CRC).
Colorectal cancer patients who have completed curative-intent treatment but test positive for molecular residual disease (MRD) face a significant risk of recurrence, even when imaging shows no detectable disease.
Currently, no approved therapies specifically address this MRD-positive, imaging-negative patient population.
Under the collaboration, TransCode will use Natera's Signatera molecular residual disease test to identify eligible patients for the Phase 2a trial.
The partnership aims to streamline patient identification at clinical trial sites and improve enrollment efficiency.
Signatera is a personalized circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) test designed to detect molecular residual disease by identifying cancer-associated DNA fragments in a patient's blood.
The test will help identify patients who remain MRD-positive following curative-intent therapy but have no radiographic evidence of disease.
TTX-MC138 is an investigational, first-in-class therapeutic candidate designed to inhibit microRNA-10b (miR-10b), a biomarker associated with the development and progression of metastatic cancers, including colorectal cancer.
The treatment is being developed to target cancer at the molecular residual disease stage, potentially before recurrence becomes clinically apparent.
The study is being conducted by Quantum Leap Healthcare Collaborative under its PRE-I-SPY program, which aims to accelerate the evaluation of innovative cancer therapies. The colorectal cancer trial marks the program's first expansion beyond breast cancer.
TransCode said the collaboration could help identify high-risk patients more efficiently and support the evaluation of earlier intervention strategies for colorectal cancer. Natera said the partnership aims to advance MRD-guided approaches by connecting eligible patients with investigational therapies.
NTRA has traded between $170.82 and $437.41 over the past year. The stock closed Monday's trading at $397.7, down 0.73%.
RNAZ has traded between $1.52 and $ 15.89 over the past year. The stock closed Monday's trading at $1.63, down 12.37%. In pre-market trading, the stock is at $1.63, up 0.15%.
