三星重工在 Gastech 2026 获自研 SENSE 液化系统应用于 FLNG 的原则性认可，并签多项 MOU

Samsung Heavy Industries (010140.KS) is showcasing its future energy technologies, including an in-house natural gas liquefaction system, at the world's largest energy exhibition.
Chief Executive Choi Sung-ahn, who serves as vice chairman, and other senior executives said they will attend Gastech 2026, running from the 14th through the 17th in Bangkok, Thailand, where the company will exhibit under the slogan "Charting the Voyage of Energy."
The shipbuilder said it plans to secure a decisive competitive edge by having its design capabilities for floating liquefied natural gas production facilities, or FLNG, certified at the event.
On the 15th, the company will receive approval in principle from the American Bureau of Shipping and Lloyd's Register of the U.K. for a conceptual design applying SENSE, its proprietary natural gas liquefaction system, to the topside facilities of an FLNG unit. ABS will also grant a basic design review. Samsung Heavy will additionally sign a memorandum of understanding with Gas Entec, a South Korean offshore plant engineering firm, for the first commercial licensing of SENSE.
Liquefaction systems, which cool natural gas to cryogenic temperatures to allow storage and transport, are core equipment in a field long led by a handful of overseas companies. Samsung Heavy developed and validated SENSE on its own and has had its technology recognized by global classification societies and clients. The latest approvals establish a basis for applying the system to FLNG units.
The company is also securing multiple certifications for gas carrier technologies. On the 14th, the Korean Register will certify a structural integrity assessment of large Type-C independent tanks based on engineering critical assessment methods that account for actual operating conditions. On the 16th, DNV of Norway will grant approval in principle for a composite support structure for storage tanks on very large gas and ammonia carriers.
Samsung Heavy is pursuing business partnerships with global energy companies as well. On the 15th, it is scheduled to sign a preliminary services agreement with JERA Americas of the U.S. for a floating storage and regasification unit project off the coast of Hawaii. On the 16th, it will sign a memorandum of understanding with Fulcrum LNG of the U.S. to target FLNG markets in five regions worldwide.
