OliX与翰森制药签署两条siRNA序列的新许可协议但未披露金额

OliX (226950.KQ) said on the 21st that it has signed a new licensing agreement with its existing partner, China's Hansoh Pharmaceutical, covering two specific siRNA sequences.
Under the deal, OliX granted Hansoh the rights to develop and commercialize siRNA sequences targeting two different genes.
The agreement is separate from a joint development deal the two companies signed earlier. After five years of joint development, the companies have expanded their cooperation into further commercialization through this new deal.
Under the agreement, Hansoh secures the exclusive right to develop and commercialize products worldwide based on two siRNA sequences that OliX discovered, designed and validated. The deal covers one selected siRNA sequence each for two different gene targets, for a total of two sequences.
Under the deal, OliX will receive a non-refundable upfront payment and stands to collect additional milestone payments tied to the development, approval and commercialization of the candidates. Once products are commercialized, OliX will also receive running royalties linked to sales. The specific size of the deal and the upfront payment were not disclosed.
The key feature of the agreement is that, rather than granting comprehensive exclusive rights to all siRNA sequences targeting a specific gene, it grants development and commercialization rights only to individual sequences selected by both companies from among multiple candidate sequences that OliX designed and developed, along with drugs based on them.
Typically, when exclusive rights to an entire gene target are transferred, the licensee secures broad development rights to that target, but the technology holder may face restrictions on follow-up research or additional technology transfers using the same target. By contrast, this agreement limits the scope of rights to individual sequences, allowing OliX to develop other siRNA sequences not covered by the deal on its own or transfer them to a separate partner.
OliX described this as a "sequence-level selective exclusivity model." Under this approach, multiple siRNA sequences discovered from a single gene are each commercialized as independent assets. Because OliX can develop other sequences for the same target on its own or transfer them to additional partners, the company can secure further revenue through separate upfront payments, milestones and royalties in the future.
OliX CEO Lee Dong-ki stressed, "This agreement is another case that confirms our partner's confidence in the competitiveness and development potential of the sequences derived through OliX's siRNA platform." He added, "We will continue to create flexible development and commercialization opportunities based on our competitive platform capabilities."
