Woori Bank与首尔江北警署签署防范金融诈骗合作MOU

Woori Bank is stepping up efforts to prevent financial fraud through cooperation with police.
Woori Bank said on the 12th that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Seoul's Gangbuk Police Station to prevent damage from electronic telecommunications financial fraud, such as voice phishing. The agreement is a follow-up to the cooperation system established with the Jung-bu Police Station earlier this year. Woori Bank plans to expand its cooperation system with police on a regional basis to build a nationwide financial fraud prevention network.
The two organizations will establish a dedicated communication system for immediate cooperation when suspicious transactions occur, aiming to block the withdrawal of stolen funds and minimize additional damage. The core of the effort is to build a cooperation system that can share and respond to suspicious transactions more quickly. They also plan to share the latest financial fraud methods and damage cases, and to operate joint prevention activities and customized education programs.
The agreement is the first external cooperation project led by Jeon Jae-hong, chief head of financial fraud prevention, a financial crime investigation expert with a police background whom Woori Bank recruited as the first in the banking sector. Since Jeon joined, Woori Bank has been building a prevention-centered response system that goes beyond the existing Fraud Detection System (FDS) by applying experience and know-how accumulated in actual investigation sites to its financial fraud prevention work.
"Since the speed of initial response to financial fraud determines the scale of damage, an organic cooperation system between police and financial institutions is more important than anything else," a Woori Bank official said. "We will do our best to protect our customers' assets by building a nationwide cooperation system going forward."
