Korea Zinc就Project Crucible名称使用问题向警方投诉MBK与Young Poong

Korea Zinc (010130) has filed a complaint with the Jongno Police Station in Seoul against MBK Partners (MBK) and Young Poong (000670), alleging they used the name and cover of its U.S. integrated smelter construction project, "Project Crucible," without authorization.
According to Korea Zinc on the 5th, MBK and Young Poong in June registered a domain combining the Project Crucible name with the name of Tennessee, the U.S. state where the project is being pursued, in a manner that conceals the registrant's information.
Korea Zinc said that in July, "invitations to a reception were distributed to Tennessee state government officials, key members of the local community, and journalists, with the name of Project Crucible written more prominently and clearly than the name of the host," explaining that the contact information for responses listed on the invitations also used this domain.
Korea Zinc further claimed that at a reception held last month in Nashville, Tennessee, Jang Se-hwan, CEO of Youngpoong Bookstore Holdings, made remarks to the effect that technology from Young Poong's Seokpo smelter could be applied to Project Crucible.
Korea Zinc determined that such actions by MBK and Young Poong constitute a "violation of the Act on Prevention of Unfair Competition and Protection of Trade Secrets" and "obstruction of business," and filed the complaint with police. The targets of the complaint include Korea Corporate Investment Holdings, Young Poong, MBK Vice Chairman Yoon Jong-ha, and CEO Jang.
Earlier, MBK and Young Poong had filed an injunction with the court seeking to block the issuance of new shares in order to halt the project, but the request was dismissed.
"For MBK and Young Poong, which have devalued the worth and importance of Project Crucible, to now promote it as if they were the ones behind the project is an act that deceives both governments, investors, and shareholders," a Korea Zinc official said.
