Biohaven Ltd. (
BHVN
) has entered into a strategic licensing and collaboration agreement with Ono Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. under which Ono will obtain exclusive rights to develop and commercialize Biohaven's MoDE pan-IgG degrader portfolio in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and ASEAN member countries.
The agreement is led by BHV-1300, Biohaven's lead investigational extracellular IgG degrader which is currently in Phase 3 development for Graves' disease, an autoimmune condition that affects the thyroid gland. The deal also includes next-generation candidates BHV-1310 and BHV-1320, which are currently in the preclinical stage.
Under the terms of the agreement, Biohaven will receive up to $100 million in near-term payments, including an $80 million upfront payment and a potential additional $20 million milestone payment anticipated within one year. The company is also eligible to receive royalites of approximately 20% on Ono's net sales in the licensed territories.
Biohaven will retain all rights to the portfolio outside the licensed territories, including in the United States, Europe and China.
BHV-1300 is designed to selectively degrade disease-causing IgG antibodies that play a role in a range of autoimmune disorders. In a Phase 1b study in patients with Graves' disease, the candidate reduced pathogenic thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor (TSHR) antibodies, normalized key thyroid hormone markers, and improved patient symptoms, according to the company.
The companies said the collaboration combines Biohaven's MoDE protein degrader platform with Ono's development and commercialization capabilities across the licensed Asian
markets
. Biohaven described the transaction as its first regional collaboration for an extracellular protein degrader program.
The agreement expands Biohaven's global development strategy for its IgG degrader platform while providing access to a novel class of investigational therapies targeting autoimmune diseases.
BHVN has traded between $7.48 and $18.57 over the past year. The stock closed Wednesday's trading at $11.88, down 1.66%. In pre-market trading, the stock is at $12.04, up 1.18%.
