Korea Exchange Chairman Chung Eun-bo will meet global institutional investors in New York to explain South Korea's capital market reforms and will begin cooperating with the New York Stock Exchange on market infrastructure.
The Korea Exchange (KRX) said on the 31st that Chung will travel to the United States for a global roadshow in New York and to sign a memorandum of understanding with the NYSE.
On September 3, Chung will host the Korea Exchange Global Roadshow in New York for about 20 institutional investors, including global asset managers and hedge funds. The event was jointly arranged by the KRX and BofA Securities. At the roadshow, the exchange will present the capital market reforms pursued by the government and the KRX, along with measures to improve access for foreign investors. The exchange also plans to hear views on expanding overseas investor participation in South Korea's capital market.
Ahead of the New York events, Chung will meet technology companies in Silicon Valley. The chairman plans to hear their views on entering the U.S. market, raising funds and the investment environment, and to review trends in advanced technology industries including artificial intelligence.
On the same day, the KRX will sign an MOU with the NYSE on cooperation in market operations and infrastructure. The two exchanges agreed to share the experience they have accumulated in overhauling market rules and infrastructure, including extending trading hours and shortening the settlement cycle to T+1.
