RaonSecure said on Aug. 19 that it will join Upstage’s bid to develop a national artificial intelligence (AI) model as a security partner.
The “Independent AI Foundation Model” project is a government-led initiative aimed at developing a Korean AI model and securing AI sovereignty.
Upstage passed the second-stage evaluation of the project conducted by the Ministry of Science and ICT on Aug. 18, advancing to the final third stage. The company plans to expand industrial demonstrations and applications of its large language model (LLM), Solar, as it aims to be selected as a final team by the end of the year. Upstage uses Solar as the name of its LLM family.
RaonSecure will join the Upstage-led development consortium and take responsibility for the security sector. The company will combine its practical response expertise and capabilities accumulated as a government-designated information security service provider with Upstage’s Solar to demonstrate the feasibility of automating professional tasks and deploying autonomous AI security technologies in industrial settings.
The two companies plan to expand the technologies and results secured through the project to national critical infrastructure as well as services closely connected to people’s daily lives.
