Hyundai Motor (005380.KS) said on the 1st that it will run a downtime compensation service called Heavy-Duty Truck Business Care and a vehicle replacement program called Trade-In for owners of its heavy-duty trucks, aiming to support stable business operations for its truck customers.
The company said it designed the measures to ease the financial burden customers face when a vehicle cannot be driven because of an accident or warranty repair, and to make the process from selling an existing truck to buying a new one more convenient.
Heavy-Duty Truck Business Care compensates customers for losses incurred during periods when a truck is out of service because of an accident or warranty repair.
The program covers all heavy-duty models, including the Xcient and the New Power Truck.
Customers who bought their vehicles using standard installment financing from Hyundai Commercial receive 150,000 won per day of downtime, up to 5 million won a year.
Trade-In is designed to let customers sell the trucks they own and link that sale to the purchase of a new vehicle.
Working with Go Truck, Hyundai Commercial's used commercial vehicle marketplace, the program offers free on-site appraisals and guaranteed quotes centered on partner logistics companies, along with low-interest financing for customers who buy a new truck.
Hyundai Motor (005380.KS) plans to expand partnerships with additional used-vehicle marketplaces over time to make it easier for owners of medium- and heavy-duty trucks to replace their vehicles.
"For commercial vehicle customers, the truck is a critical business asset, so we want to minimize the burden of downtime and support stable business operations," a Hyundai Motor official said. "We plan to continue introducing a range of customer support programs to lower total cost of ownership and strengthen the competitiveness of their businesses."
