LG Display is expanding its "AX Squad" initiative to strengthen employees' ability to use artificial intelligence (AI). The company is extending its AI transformation (AX) efforts beyond manufacturing and development to procurement and supply chains, sales and marketing, and other business functions.
LG Display said on Sept. 13 that it is operating AX Squads companywide, bringing together employees from business units and in-house AI experts to solve work-related challenges.
AX Squad is a project in which employees identify problems or repetitive tasks in their workflows as AI projects and develop solutions themselves. AI experts from the company's AX Group participate as coaches, helping employees across development, production and general office functions use AI.
All LG Display organizations currently participate in AX Squad, with more than 450 projects identified to date. About 190 have been automated, including a program that simplifies defect classification in manufacturing, an optical simulation tool for development and an employee survey system for human resources.
Applications developed by employees are registered on the company's internal app marketplace, "HI-D Agent Hub," allowing other employees to use them. HI-D Agent Hub itself was also developed by LG Display employees.
LG Display has provided AX training, including vibe coding, to all employees since 2025. Given its internal data and security environment, which makes it difficult to use external vibe-coding tools, the company also developed an in-house vibe-coding agent called "HI-D Code."
Using the system, employees developed recruitment and training systems through vibe coding, while AX team members built a website providing information to partner companies. Vibe coding was also used to develop a platform for sharing internal AX applications and tools.
LG Display initially applied AX mainly to its manufacturing and development organizations in 2025. Since the second half of 2026, it has been expanding the initiative to non-manufacturing and non-development functions, including procurement and supply chains, customer support, finance and business management, and sales and marketing.
"AX Squad is a companywide AI innovation framework in which employees participate directly from defining projects through execution," an LG Display official said. "We will accelerate our transformation into a technology-driven company through work innovation and the internalization of AI."
