LG电子与GS建设签署AI Home合作MOU，拟把ThinQ ON接入Xi公寓

LG Electronics has joined hands with GS Engineering & Construction to actively supply its artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics technology to complexes of Xi, a premier-brand apartment. Through this, LG Electronics plans to accelerate the expansion of the "AI Home" market, which it is pursuing as a new business-to-business (B2B) venture.
LG Electronics (066570.KS) said on the 13th that it signed a "memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the joint development of a next-generation AI Home" at the Grand Seoul building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, with executives from both companies present, including President Ryu Jae-cheol and GS Engineering & Construction (006360.KS) CEO Huh Yoon-hong. LG Electronics plans to apply AI solutions—linking home appliances, Internet of Things (IoT) devices and various services around its AI Home platform "ThinQ ON"—to complexes of GS Engineering & Construction's apartment brand Xi.
AI Home is a service that allows all elements within a home—AI appliances and IoT devices, as well as lighting, heating, ventilation, electrical outlet and gas valve systems—to be easily managed through a smartphone application and wall pad. It also supports elevator calls, checking parking locations, reviewing visitor history and reserving community facilities. As growth in its home appliance business slows, LG Electronics plans to secure a new growth engine by expanding its AI Home business among builders and developers.
LG Electronics had earlier collaborated with GS Engineering & Construction to introduce the home robot "LG CLOi-d" and autonomous driving-based serving and delivery robots to Xi. In April, the two companies signed an "MOU to build a future-oriented residential robot service model," agreeing to establish robot-friendly apartment design standards and jointly develop robot service scenarios within living spaces. In addition to robots, the two companies' smart (intelligent) residential cooperation has now expanded to include AI Home.
LG Electronics recently established "ThinQ REAL," an AI Home research and development (R&D) space and showroom, at LG Science Park in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, and has begun in earnest to develop technology and attract clients. The company has set a goal of securing a total of 4 million to 5 million households as customers—including 320,000 units in newly built apartments as well as existing apartments built since 2018—and this cooperation with GS Engineering & Construction is expected to further accelerate its realization.
"By combining LG Electronics' AI Home solution with Xi's complex infrastructure, we will provide a new residential experience that makes customers' daily lives more convenient and valuable," Ryu said. "Through our cooperation, I hope we will create a standard for future living in which AI, robots and space are in harmony." Huh said, "The future of residence opens not by simply adding devices, but only when AI and space are integrated into a single living experience," adding, "Together with LG Electronics, the best technology partner, we will create a new standard for future residence that customers can truly feel."
