Chong Kun Dang has launched six new cold medicines built around acetaminophen and ibuprofen, widening the range of choices available to consumers based on symptoms and active ingredients.
The company said on the 31st that it had released three products under the name Modcol Strong Soft Capsule and three under Modcol Ibu Soft Capsule.
With the launch, the Modcol soft capsule lineup now spans two families: the acetaminophen-based Modcol Strong and the ibuprofen-based Modcol Ibu.
Modcol Strong comes in three versions tailored to cold symptoms: Cold, Nose and Cough. Each capsule contains 250 mg of acetaminophen, following a revision to the standard manufacturing guidelines for pharmaceuticals last year, bringing the total daily dose to the maximum allowed level of 1,500 mg. The Cold and Cough versions also add bromhexine hydrochloride, an expectorant.
Modcol Ibu likewise comes in Cold, Nose and Cough versions. Each capsule contains 75 mg of ibuprofen, which relieves fever and pain while suppressing inflammatory responses, for a total daily dose of 450 mg — the maximum under the standard manufacturing guidelines.
"By dividing the lineup along acetaminophen and ibuprofen, we have broadened the range of choices based on cold symptoms and the characteristics of each ingredient," a Chong Kun Dang official said. "We will continue to introduce over-the-counter medicines that reflect the diverse needs of consumers."
