Hyundai Mobis unveiled about 40 new manufacturing technologies using artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and digital twins.
Hyundai Mobis said on Aug. 27 that it held its "M-Sphere 2026" manufacturing innovation technology exhibition for two days starting Aug. 26 at the Quantum Center near its Uiwang R&D Center in Gyeonggi Province. About 1,000 people attended the event, including representatives from first- and second-tier suppliers.
Hyundai Mobis showcased manufacturing technologies in three areas: intelligent automation, AI digital twins and core technologies. The exhibition focused on cases already deployed at production sites rather than those still in the research stage.
In intelligent automation, the company unveiled a transport robot equipped with a 3D vision system. Piloted at its Ulsan chassis module plant, the robot identifies and collects components needed for assembly, recognizes its travel route and transports parts weighing up to 20 kilograms to the assembly line.
In AI digital twins, Hyundai Mobis demonstrated a physical AI-based robot teaching technology that recreates production lines in a virtual environment to train the movements of robotic arms and grippers. When equipment or products are changed, robots can learn the modified tasks in the virtual environment within two to four hours.
Hyundai Mobis also unveiled technology that automates the fastening of temperature-sensor connectors in battery modules. Using precision recognition technology, a robot identifies the fastening position, locates the target point through deep learning and automatically fastens the connector.
"We will use AI and digital twin-based technologies at production sites to strengthen our manufacturing competitiveness and share related know-how with our suppliers," said Chung Choong-sik, vice president at Hyundai Mobis.
