Toptec will supply battery assembly equipment for extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) to Hyundai Mobis, just three days after securing an order for hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) battery equipment.
Toptec said on Aug. 27 that it signed a 21.1 billion won contract with Hyundai Mobis' North American electrification subsidiary to supply a prismatic EREV battery assembly line. The contract runs through April 2027.
Toptec secured a separate 20.1 billion won order from the same subsidiary on Aug. 24 for a cylindrical HEV battery assembly line. The two Hyundai Mobis contracts signed over three days total 41.2 billion won, equivalent to about 24% of Toptec's 2025 revenue of 171 billion won.
The successive orders from Hyundai Mobis coincide with Hyundai Motor Group's strategy to expand HEV and EREV offerings in North America.
Hyundai Motor Group unveiled plans at its 2026 CEO Investor Day on Aug. 26 to expand HEV sales in North America and introduce its first EREV in the first half of next year. Unlike an HEV, in which the engine and electric motor both drive the wheels, an EREV relies solely on an electric motor for propulsion. The engine serves as a generator to produce electricity when the battery runs low.
Toptec has been expanding its battery-equipment partnership with Hyundai Mobis. It won its first Hyundai Mobis order in 2023, a 33.4 billion won contract for a battery-system assembly line. Last year, Toptec was named an outstanding supplier at Hyundai Mobis' "2025 Partners Day."
The latest battery-equipment orders are also expected to increase Toptec's order backlog. The company had an order backlog of 158.2 billion won as of the end of June. First-half consolidated revenue rose 3.2% to 73.5 billion won from 71.2 billion won a year earlier. Its operating loss narrowed to 500 million won from 6.8 billion won over the same period.
