JVM, an affiliate of Hanmi Science, said on the 20th that it had successfully defended its patents on drug automatic-packaging machines after a six-year legal battle, securing recognition of its rights to the core technology.
The company said it won a lawsuit it had filed against a domestic automated-dispensing equipment maker, identified only as Company A, seeking an injunction against patent infringement and damages related to its drug automatic-packaging machines.
The Seoul Central District Court recently ruled that Company A had infringed JVM's patent rights and recognized the company's liability for damages, according to sources. JVM filed the patent lawsuit against Company A in 2020, and Company A had waged a legal fight by arguing that the patent was invalid.
"Following the Supreme Court's confirmation of the validity of JVM's patents, this ruling has now also established that Company A infringed those patent rights," a JVM official said. "It is meaningful in that we have legally confirmed the rights and value of core technology assets we have built up through years of research and development," the official added.
JVM is also actively pursuing overseas business, including building a factory in Suzhou, China, in the first half of this year.
