Hyundai Rotem's order backlog exceeded 30 trillion won for the first time in the second quarter this year. It marked a record-high order backlog as defense and rail orders continued.
The company said in a regulatory filing on July 24 that it posted second-quarter revenue of 1.6061 trillion won and operating profit of 232.4 billion won. Revenue increased 13.3% from a year earlier, while operating profit declined 9.7%.
For the first half of the year, cumulative revenue rose 18.1% year over year to 3.0635 trillion won, while operating profit fell 0.8% to 456.6 billion won.
As of the end of the second quarter, the order backlog stood at 30.4046 trillion won. By business segment, AD&RH (Aerospace, Defense, Robotics and Hydrogen) accounted for 9.8197 trillion won and RS (Rail & System) accounted for 19.8670 trillion won.
During the first half, Hyundai Rotem won contracts including a Morocco electric train maintenance project (748.2 billion won), a Ho Chi Minh City Metro Line 2 electric train project in Vietnam (491.1 billion won) and a K1 Armored Vehicle-Launched Bridge (AVLB) maintenance project (198.5 billion won).
