KakaoBank工会宣布7月31日全天罢工

The labor union of KakaoBank will stage a full-day strike on the 31st after wage negotiations broke down.
Seo Seung-wook, head of the Kakao branch of the Korean Federation of Chemical, Textile and Food Industry Workers' Unions under the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, made the announcement during a picketing protest held at Kakao's Pangyo Agit in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, on the 21st. "KakaoBank will conduct a full-day strike on the 31st," he said. "The company did not actively engage in negotiations, and the differences between labor and management were not narrowed."
The strike follows the collapse of wage negotiations. Management proposed paying performance bonuses equivalent to about 10 percent of operating profit, combining cash and treasury shares, but the union demanded a higher level. Mediation by the Gyeonggi Regional Labor Relations Commission also broke down, and the union confirmed the strike after securing 95 percent approval in a vote on industrial action.
The strike on the 31st will be carried out by union members taking annual leave. KakaoBank believes the impact on customer service will be limited, as it operates a non-face-to-face business system and not all employees will participate. The company said it intends to continue dialogue until the strike.
The union also left open the possibility of an additional strike at Kakao's headquarters. "Future struggle plans may change depending on how negotiations proceed," Seo said.
