APR (278470) has published research in an international journal showing that using a home beauty device together with skincare products improves skin radiance more than using the products alone.
The company said on the 21st that the study, conducted by its in-house Global Dermatology Research Institute, appeared in the October issue of the international journal Cosmetics. Cosmetics is a peer-reviewed journal published by MDPI that ranks in the top tier (Q1) in evaluations of journals in the field.
The study examined the effects of a beauty device using electroporation (EP) technology, which uses electrical stimulation to help substances penetrate the skin. Researchers analyzed differences in skin permeability and appearance between using cosmetics alone and using them with the device.
The tests used Medicube's PDRN Pink Peptide Ampoule and AGE-R's Booster Pro Mini Plus. Researchers measured how much of the substance penetrated artificial skin tissue and also ran a four-week trial on healthy adults.
In the human trial, participants applied the same ampoule to the entire face but used the beauty device only on the left side. That allowed researchers to compare skin on the area treated with the device against the area treated with the ampoule alone.
In artificial skin tissue, permeability was significantly higher in the group that used the beauty device than in the control group that used cosmetics alone. In the human trial, the area treated with both showed greater improvement in some measures, including skin brightness and luster.
After four weeks, skin radiance improved 16.4% on the area treated with the device, about 1.9 times the 8.6% improvement on the area treated with cosmetics alone. The company noted that the figures reflect the specific products and test conditions used in this study and do not mean the same results would apply to all cosmetics and beauty devices.
APR said it plans to expand verification of the efficacy and safety of home beauty devices and cosmetics through the Global Dermatology Research Institute. The company said it will upgrade its evaluation systems using artificial skin tissue and human trials, and reflect research findings from the early stages of product development to strengthen scientific validation.
An APR official said the study is meaningful because it analyzed the combined effects of home beauty devices and cosmetics from multiple angles through both non-clinical evaluation and human trials. The official added that the company will continue research and development based on scientific evidence to broaden the research foundation for skincare solutions that link beauty devices with cosmetics.
