Hyundai Glovis(086280.KS)

Hyundai Glovis has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority and a local developer to expand its vehicle logistics operations at the Port of Philadelphia, strengthening its foothold on the US East Coast.
The agreement includes new vehicle handling facilities, dedicated berths for car carriers and an extension of the company's existing site lease through 2056. Hyundai Glovis will also move into terminal operations as part of PhilaPort's broader expansion of its container and vehicle facilities.
The company was named a key private-sector partner at an Oct. 13 event attended by Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and state and port officials.
Hyundai Glovis has operated at the port since 2010 and opened its 640,000-square-meter Southport vehicle yard in 2019. Its current logistics facilities span about 1 million square meters, with capacity for 33,600 vehicles. The expansion will increase that to 1.13 million square meters and 37,600 vehicles.
Philadelphia has served as a strategic alternative to other East Coast ports. Hyundai Glovis used the port to maintain vehicle shipments when the collapse of Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge disrupted operations in 2024.
The expansion will allow Hyundai Glovis to integrate ocean shipping, terminal handling, storage and inland transport. The company also plans to expand its handling of commercial vehicles, construction equipment and project cargo, while developing transatlantic shipping routes.
"Hyundai Glovis will develop Philadelphia into a key hub in the US East Coast supply chain and provide customers with stable, efficient integrated logistics services," a company official said.
