Asiana Airlines (020560.KS) has launched service to Kobe, Japan, expanding travel options in the Kansai region.
The carrier said it began operating the Incheon-Kobe route on the 1st, with one daily flight, or seven a week. The flight departs Incheon International Airport at noon and arrives at Kobe Airport at 2 p.m. The return leg leaves Kobe at 3 p.m. and lands at Incheon at 5 p.m.
The route is served by the Airbus A321neo, Asiana's next-generation workhorse for short-haul flights.
Kobe is known for its scenic landscapes and cosmopolitan downtown atmosphere, and ranks among Japan's leading destinations for food. Arima Onsen, one of the city's best-known attractions, is counted among Japan's three oldest hot springs.
Nearby stands Himeji Castle, the first site in Japan inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage list, offering both history and relaxation, while the waterfront Kobe Port Tower and Harborland complex add variety to a trip. Visitors can also sample Kobe beef steak and Kobe pudding, a popular dessert.
Asiana held a launch ceremony at the departure hall of Incheon International Airport's Terminal 2 to mark the route's inaugural flight. Park Jong-man, head of Asiana's passenger business division, and Kim Tae-sung, head of the hub strategy division at Incheon International Airport Corporation, attended the event. Every passenger on the first flight received a commemorative Asiana character magnet.

"We will strengthen our competitiveness on Korea-Japan routes through stable operation of the newly opened Kobe service and differentiated service."
