罗氏以最高11.6亿美元授权引进大睿生物(Rona)ALK7靶向RNAi肥胖症候选药

Rona Therapeutics has entered into a global licensing agreement with Roche (RHHBY) for an investigational RNA interface (RNAi) therapy targeting activin receptor-like kinase 7 (ALK7), a genetically validated target for obesity and metabolic diseases.
Obesity is a chronic disease associated with a higher risk of diabetes, heart disease and other metabolic conditions. While current treatments often focus on reducing appetite, researchers are also exploring therapies that directly target fat tissue biology.
The licensed therapy targets ALK7, a protein primarily expressed in adipose tissue, or body fat. According to the companies, inhibiting ALK7 has the potential to reduce visceral and other ectopic fat deposits while preserving lean muscle mass, offering a mechanism that could be complementary to existing incretin-based obesity treatments.
Under the terms of the agreement, Rona Therapeutics will receive up to $100 million in upfront and near-term milestone payments. The company is also eligible for up to $1.06 billion in additional development, regulatory and commercial milestone payments, along with tiered royalties on future global sales.
The investigational therapy is based on Rona's proprietary extrahepatic RNAi delivery platform. The collaboration combines Rona's RNAi technology with Roche's development and commercialization capabilities in obesity and metabolic diseases.
According to the companies, human genetic studies have linked reduced ALK7 activity with favorable fat distribution and metabolic characteristics. The pathway is involved in regulating fat storage, fat breakdown, and energy balance within adipose tissue.
For Roche, the agreement further expands its cardiometabolic and obesity pipeline as the company seeks additional treatment approaches beyond current available therapies. For Rona, the partnership provides funding and development support to advance its obesity-focused RNAi program globally.
RHHBY has traded between $40.07 and $60.85 over the past year. The stock is currently trading at $54.03, down 0.13%
